Any local bands doing stuff other than indie/alternative/punk? Lets see, anyone doing trip hop stuff like Portishead etc? Seems tat indie/alternative local bands is so common nowadays...would love to hear sumthng different n unique..anybody knows? :wink:

There are so many collectives out there. You want live hip hop? Look for Ko' Lab which combines rap, R n B, turntablism and live bass playing in a package. Trip hop? I thk it's more of bedroom producers churning them out rather than performing those tracks live.

There used to be a trip hop act called Tofu with very strong Portishead leanings. MC Sleepwalker from Phorous was there.

If you like these triphop bands, you can look at this Indonesian act, Everybody Loves Irene (http://www.myspace.com/everybodylovesirene), an exact carbon copy of Portishead.

Good to know if there're still Portishead fans out there...
