A bit of a pickup problem?

I had a Dimarzio Blue Velvet installed in the bridge position of my Squier Strat.

For some reasons it lacked the "twang" one would associate with Strat Pickups.

(A friend of mine, however, on the other hand, has the same pickup as well, and the twang is there)

I like the tone when in split position however, so I do not want to change the pickup. Or at least try my best to avoid changing the pickup again.

Adjusting pickup height didn't help, it still sounds somewhat harsh. Any idea why? It's not related to effects settings or the amp settings.

Bridge Model btw.

Dude did u follow the wiring diagram? Cos if u solder the wires and pot wrongly, it may sound dull and lack the twang.

Yep, DP171.

I have plans to go down to G77 again (I forgot ask yesterday when I went, careless of me lol), but before that, I thought I'll ask in here 1st.

Is your guitar the same as your friend's?
You should bring your friend's guitar dowmn as well for a comparison.

It's different guitar, but yea I've thought of that. His axe is a mahogany bodied 24-fretter and the pup is in middle position. That's the difference. (Note: both of us are using the bridge model).

I really doubt it's the pup position or the body material, however. It's more of a problem of the initial attack. Doubt it's fingerboard either though his is maple and mine's rosewood.

I'll see if I can get my friend to come along with me haha. Thanks guys. =)

this is why it sounds different.

I'd say... its unlikely that the pickups are not installed properly. Its just the sound of the pickups.

Erm, Im sure everyone knows that Strat pickups (as long as they're designed for the Strat-kind of sound that is) are supposed to "twang" no matter where it's placed at?

(Im well aware of the massive sound difference between pup positions)

If I missed out or misunderstood something, I'll gladly be enlightened though. =)

P.S. What are the odds that the BV Bridge is meant to be connected to a tone pot as well? hahaha. It sounds pretty harsh atm.
