and there'll be more coming for sure, after you all gave out the flyers at thomas lang's masterclass.

talking about the flyers, how come nobody gave me! i'm pretty sure those who were giving out the flyers dont know how i look like heh.

Everyone please take note,

We need a maximum of two bassists. We DO NOT need any guitarists. Thank you for the kind gestures in showing support to our monthly event. However, we do not want the drum meet-up to be a jam session.

For all the other bassists and guitarists who still want to join us at the drum meet-up, you may do so because all are welcome. However, please do not bring your gears along. Guitarists/Bassists (other than the two volunteers) who brought their equipment will not be allowed to bring in their gears. The committee will not be responsible for any lost/stolen equipments.

As for bass, we need two volunteers:

Bassist 1:
Bassist 2:

Please fill in your name! First come first serve! Thanks!

Jeepers, I love the video man. Thanks for linking it. I've watched it many times before but lost the link. My bassist always dream of becoming Flea. haha. Anyway, I love RHCP.

hahaha anytime my friend, anytime.

flea was the reason why i picked up bass, but that was until my interest in drums intensified heh. now my bass's collecting dust in the corner of my room, passing it to my friend who's picking up bass soon though.

RHCP's darn funky, i like! think i've got most, if not all, of their albums!

Yeah I got 30 over of their songs on my MP3 player. Flea was the reason why I bother to find out what's ghost notes.
Anyway Tower of Power is cool too. I like the bassist and drummer in the band. Check them out.

Oh yeah CJL

jeepers:
Wooo that vid! Watched it some years back. I used to jam the "Naked In The Rain" song with my bassist back then. Fun little ditty to jam :D

Thanks Bro caijunlong for bringing this up pertaining to ... Guitarists.

Guitarists are all welcome of course (Musician too), but remembering also the Purpose of this meetup is a "Soft Drum's Exchange" and not "Jam Session" - there is a big difference here. Of course if guitarists here would love to invite or take one of the Soft's drummers at our exchange as his bandmates - that would be nice.eeeee and does goes in line with what we are trying to build & inspire - to see more of our Soft's drummers (those without a band currently) Jam and play in a Band and get that invaluable experience required to excel further in area of drumming in real life situation.

It's good to have Bassists who can provide Bass-Line for the Drummers (during our Free & Easy Session in our meetup which we always had one somewhere nearer the end of the meetup to have some fun)......but - The Core of this every Soft Drum Exchange/Meetup is still - Drum Exchanges and Sharing - we must never deviate from this main purpose or it will defeat the purpose for drummers.

Thank you all for the understanding - we will have fun this Saturday - so come along with a clear objective of the drum's meetup.

Regards

Lol. Ok, I think I was the only guitarist coming, but I wasnt actually gonna bring anything. I was just coming to watch with drummeright.

yo bro blurred.... youre right... most, if not all, bands have guitars in their band...
but like our moderator said, this is not a jam session bro....

the reason for a bassist, is to provide lines, and see how our drummers can input thier stuffs together wif the bassline...
and most of the time, the twin of the drummers are usualli bassist, not guitarist.....
dats why, i dont think there is really a need for a guitarist to jam for this seesion..... ( no disrespects to guitarists )
maybe this session ah, but future session, .. well.. errmmm.. who noes....

Cough cough.

This Saturday, I hope to hear Marcus Miller shit!!!! Wooooo!!!!

Btw, I havent stayed long enough for a meet-up to know, but do you guys always talk about the importance, of which and waht rudiments to play???

Cause I think its also another great importance of how one must be able to memorize a structure for a song without charts.

Basically Im talking about my lil'girl drummer drummeright. Haha. She need the motivation to sit and listen and learn. At the moment, She sit and listen and do homework  She got the concept right but got the "Learn" part wrong. hahaha

Hope ya'll can motivate her.

yo dude, different ppl got different styles of learning, memorizing and playing songs..
gif her space dude.....
u dont really have to play exactly like the song youre covering ryte???

as for me, i play wat i want, how i want, as long as the basic skeleton is there..
as long as the different movement of the songs we play the correct structure...

for my case, how i learn songs, esp originals by own band, like wat i'm learning now, or even for cover songs, i will put them as phrases of 8 bars
easy to count, be it in 4/4, 6/8, 5/8 or watever
for songs that have constant timing changes, such as one bar of 6/8 and another bar of 5/8, and those 2 repeats themselves, i will put them as 1 pair

thoughout the songs, i will put as different movements, moods, soft or loud or cracking......

and certain movements, i will put a remark as to this part is about the same as another song (in this case, i'm talking about own originals)
like example, movement 1, riff about the same as DT's hell's kitchen, i put there as Hell's kitchen, so i know how to play and how that part sounds like....
movement 2, sounds like RHCP's under the bridge, i put there as under the bridge, so i know that movement is more of a funkier/alternative kind.. kind of nearly the same as the original RHCP's song....

once thats done, that piece of paper is your referance thoughout until youve mastered the song...

once again, like i've said, that's my method.. others have their own method...
so its up to them how they wanna memorize, learn the song...

give her space, badger.... no use pestering her till she get so fed-up and in the end, nothing comes out of that....
