69' Twin reverb

Sweet Score..

The Preamp tube you removed will have dropped a wee bit of volume.

Those twin speakers certainly fill the room.

If ever one day you get the chance to crank the thing all the way up, report back to how the clipping on a Blackface amp sounds!

i have no understanding of amp inside out...
what is so good abt reverb? i saw it on my borowed amp but was told that it is quite useless for my practice..

Well.. A Fender amp's reverb is legendary

My early 80's Yamaha amp(hundred115) has spring reverb.
One guy asked if he could buy just the reverb... 8O

guys! I just got back from wellaudiolab. I bought a mullard ECC81 (12AT7) and a westinghouse 12AX7/5751 from him ($20 each). The 12AX7 was to replace the one that was spoilt. The amp is working perfectly now. No more hiss on the reverb channel. Yay.

Yah think it uses a spring reverb. There's a big box at the bottom of the amp housing the reverb. Its connected to the chassis by a couple of wires in and out. The reverb is sweet. :) Can get quite overpowering though if you turn it up past 5.

Anyone can advise me on the placement of the various tubes? There are six pre-amp tubes V1 to V6.. anyone know which pre-amp tube is for what?

edit: nvm, found an excellent explanation here:

hmm yah. i just realised it after reading that link i posted.. can leave out tube v1 if not using the clean channel.

just had a chance today to clean up the amp. you won't believe the amount of dirt that's stuck on... my rag turned black. urg. Its so much cleaner now. :) Just realised that the reverb tank is enclosed in a nice leather bag. wow. didn't realise it before because it was hidden under all the muck.

Anyone want to try it out just give me a pm. :) I'll try to accomodate you. i stay in the west.

eh hiya Daniel. Anytime man. Aiyah but this weekend busy with work. Maybe next weekend. :) i'm keen to try out some juicy overdrive units on the amp. :D

I only got 2 but those suit my needs (and might do IT for you) very well, and has curbed my gas for getting more dirt pedals.

Except the Eternity. And another Blackstone.

hey guys... regarding dirt pedals for fender amps...
i recently aqcuired a 65 fender deluxe reverb ri ... and my barber direct drive ss some how doesnt really work in harmony with it.... any suggestions besides the fabled blackstone ?

going for a more vintage sound la... black stone sounded quite modern and cutting in your recordings...

i was contamplating Xotic pedals... anyone has any experience hooking these up to fender amps?

od and gain .. for solos i like santana ...smooth kinda phat tones... with extra gain.
rythm ..basically punchy od with decent clarity should do it for me. whats a ts variant? google time.

Yeap, the blackstone sounds very modern. It not your normal TS clone. if you are after that kind of tone, steer clear. I find the TS tones muddy though, but YMMV.

You should drop by the Blackstone Applications website though, their sound samples put things in proper perspective. They a/b the Blackstone with a TS Clone and Klon, you can hear how muddy a TS clone is.

i think the blackstone is really really subjective imho.. its either you like or you dont like... lol

Its the same for every pedal is it? :)

Go to TGP, the Blackstone is highly raved there. Dunno, must be the crowd here more into the vintage thang.
