1959 Gibson Les Paul: Built from scratch.

This is a great show of how complex it is to actually build a Les Paul, and a replica at that... My fav bits were actually the part on the PAF study, and how the magnets didn't realy matter... I'm thinking he's talking about long/short, sanded/roughcast, etc etc rather than Alnico 2,3,4 or 5...

But the interesting bit is how he mentioned that the PAF "quack" was a matter of how much DCR difference there was in each coil. I've always noticed that a GOOD PAF had some inherent quack in eahc humbucker, but could never figure out electronically what attributed to it... Now I know...

Super informative thread man... Preeb is highly generous for sharing this info with us... Many winders refuse to let people know about their secrets... but here's someone who's not afraid to share...

Eclipze would love that thread!!!!

Shoosh! I haven't reached that part yet!

This is totally amazing. The way he got the specs out and then strting to build up the guitar from scratch. Looks like easy work from the pics but every single step is crucial and impt.

The precision of his calculation and measurements and seeing the end product. Totally amazing and out of the world.

Now we know that it really aint easy to build up a guitar from scratch.
I'm going appreciate the effort of every guitar even more now :)

5 Stars to him man..!

Peace! Cheers :)

Hohoho what has thou been doing in jc?

Glad to see some softies actually care about such things and that soft has not turned into a place to vent the days troubles or talk shit or flame others.

How often do you see such detailed projects being laid out for you to read and understand?

This is golden, folks who actually care. Take advantage of it

Those guys are lucky to be able to get a hold of such tools and materials. If only we could have the luxury of space in your storeroom/choosing quality wood.

Even the pickup rings are self made..

Making your own M69 replicas are more economical than buying. Buying a replica is simply retarded.

But then again, you need to own a genuine M69 ring before you can make a mould out of it.
