zoom pedal prices

yeah, like what the others said here, the distortion is seriously lacking. I used to own a 505 and a 504 II(the acoustic modeller), but i found it seriously lacking.

My band mate went through a 707II and a GFX-5, but he preferred the GFX-5 to the 707. I was there with him, and if I were him, I'd have bought the GFX-5 too, the construction wise and as the GFX's layout was so much easier to access.

However, I'm the kind of guy who loves my distortion to be heavy and raw. Gave up searching for that one perfect multieffects, and fell in love with single effects. More costly though, but if you're looking for versatility distortion, the DS-1 is more than good enough, and after modding, it'd become an even more versatile one.

Well, worst come to worst, just get a multi efex pedal and add a distortion box in front. =)

funny....i guess i'm one of the few people who actually like zoom's distortion sound...i'm using gfx-4.....i've had some good feedback bout my dist sound during gigs(with different types of amps) though.... and they couldn't believe i was using a zoom product......well i guess diff people have diff taste......

I don't deny that Zoom distortion is of certain standard, but once you get hooked onto Tube amp distortion, it's totally a different feel imo :)

i tried bro.....with a marshall(forget which head model) and a peavey XXX.....i just didn't like it....but i did like the dist sound of a mesa boogie head...and i liked it better with my fx on it.....

well diff people diff opinions :)

i use a gfx-1, bought from city music during the year end sale for $160. now i think its $220 if im not wrong. i agree the distortion patch for zoom is kinda lacking. for my pedal's distortion, if i use my marshall mg15, its so thin and sharp even if i lower down the highs. but if i use my peavey studio 60, its sounds ok to me. so, i think depends on amps also.

:)

Peavey? I'll go w Higher Power Transtube series amp bec I lyk their warm, thick & chunky distortion :)

I tried some of e RGs at Swee Lee using e Peavey Transformer & Studio - sounds rockerific to me.

This is my opinion.

i used to have a gfx1, the "metal" distortion was way too fat for me, even through a roland jazz chorus, the bass everytime overpower the whole sound, basically now i'm sorta anti-zoom
