Your Opinion - Are Good Drummers Born or Are They Made ?

yo rudi, edmund branson was from my church, i only found out about him recently.

infact, one of the drumsets i use in church was acquired by him i think. stage custom CUSTOM sized somemore woot!

im am so so excited that he is soo famous here too.

I so agree to what was said earlier about discipline in practicing and discipline in a band. Of course, while all other points too are valid. :)

Bro Gambatak

Wow...that's geat...and Yes Edmund Branson was truly very talented - I knew quite alot of Musician in Singapore and.....Out of 10 for instance I asked...9 of these Musician will say ( Edmund is regarded as Singapore Top Drummer)...these include those SoundMan I knew, Pub Owners ...people who knew and seen many Drummers play.

My Sifu told me something - He says Edmond could some of the things that he could not do even (That was being very humble & honest and I respected my sifu for what he said)...I think the Last Tribute held for Edmond was somewhere in Year 2005.

I actually Posted something at "Drummers Section" at DrummerWorld on Edmond - my respect to him.

PS Bro...If your Church decide so to change the Kit to a New One - Go Grap it (Edmond Kit)...maybe it's a Magic Drum Kekekekeke  Edmond Spirit still there lah...

I say - Edmond is the most remembered drummer here - we all do miss him very much.(Hmm.mm feel like crying now sobb...sobb)...Tama Goh sure groom him well...didn't he?...

wow, really ah, left so much history behind.

he died when he was wad, 30+ if im not wring.

yes i did consider taking over the kit if my church did decide to change to a new one.

only thing is the hardware abit spoilt already. sigh =.=

Edmund is not just a good musician, he is a very humble and selfless person. I don't know him personnally but I had a chance to talk to him during one of his gigs with Jeremy Monteiro. I remembered asking him about the snare drum that he was using for that gig. He invited me to play on his kit and to test out the snare drum! I was playing and he pointing out the good points of the snare drum while Jeremy Monteiro was setting up for the sound check! People I had spoken to who either know who Edmund is or is a good friend, all said that he is very humble.

I think this is what makes a person and a musician successful. Not just having great skills but with great character!

I have a friend who is a great buddy of Edmund and I had mentioned that what a waste that he had left us. You know what he said? "No, he is up there (pointing towards the sky) playing for GOD!". What great faith they have!

Very well said Bro BebopIggy....so true !

Yeah, I agree fully with your statement. Beside being good in playing oneself, Musician (this include Drummer) must have The Right Attitude.

I've heard many a times that Musician with very good attitude (who can work & get along well with others - are usually the ones that get plenty of Gigs & Recording - (besides being good in their playing)....because people simply likes them....and it's true afterall we are dealing with other humans to make music.

All too often, we hear people saying Musician are usually very Weird People or things like "Hey this guy got attitude problem"......

Yes we must incalculate ourself to having the Right Attitude, just like learning drums...we all learn.

PS; Edmond is indeed a very talented drummer, he is really good - A Question.

HAS ANYONE OF YOU HAVE HIS PAST RECORDING - If ANY?

Eric

in a sense... there might not be an objective better or best... drumming consists of quite a wide spectrum and everyone is unique, so everyone's approach to the instrument would be pretty special, and it's difficult to compare, unless we are talking about just one of the many aspects of drumming...
