your first flying-v

OMG!!! IBANEZ DOES HAVE A FLYING V WITH FIXED BRIDGE AND WIZARD NECK!!! Check soft reviews section... URHGZ!!!

But it somehow did not feature in their website. I saw ont at Swee Lee last year but not now. Lawsuit guitar?

Yep, sighz... Hopefully it gets through though... WAH LIAOZ EHZ... mention only I not vv happy liaoz... Although a more menacing V shape would be better...

You talking about Ibanez V-blade?

I like it too, but I don't see any close resemblance it has to any other V out there. The news that Ibanez is having lawsuit problems still pisses me off.

In my opinion its like the V-shaped version of the Iceman.

check this out...

wow, if it had seperate volume knobs and a master tone with the headstock not pointing towards the guitarist and have a floyd rose instead of Kahler Tremolo. i would murder someone for that guitar

Argh I tried out a Flying V at the shop the other day, but I realised I can't rest it on my legs at all!

Only way is to play standing and there are no contours on the body of the guitar so it's like having a piece of wood continuously knocking on my body. :( I don't know about other people, but this is what happens when I play one.

But anyway to the thread starter and those thinking about getting Flying Vs, before getting your it keep in mind that you can't sit with it! Try it out first! Good luck finding your dream guitar TS!

Who the heck is suing ibanez anway? Must be those gibson bastards, if it was out there on sale, i'd go and grab one, and wouldnt have to think so hard on what guitar to get.

it's very possible ^^
but still needs getting used to

yeah i had no problem playing the epiphone v sitting down when i played a v for the first time. ive watched kerry king and dave mustaine play sitting down, i kinda got it from them, and i like my guitar to be heavy

i tried out the ibanez v-blade back then when it was still available at swee lee.. no problems playing it sitting down eh.. u gotta grip the bottom wing between both ur legs while u play..

Oh yeah true true. Guess I didn't think about putting it between my legs.

In fact dave mustaine looks comfortable with the guitar there.:-o I would feel vulnerable. Hehe. But good to know that you can feel comfortable with the shape. That's whats most important. :)

I hate playing the first few frets with a V sitting down. I have stretch. However, I love to play a V from 12th fret onwards :)

All in all, I don't think it's much of a practice guitar because I don't get comfortable with it.

One thing to ponder though... the V shape contributes to the tonality too?

Yup Exactly, it fits nicely into one thigh.

Woo!! my gibson flying is is FLYing over to singapore now

Flying V

My first ever flying v was not purchase but was found abandoned just opposite of my block(near the staicase). Believe or not but its a true encounter.

Just coming back from a frens place many years back.... was walking up the stairs up to my place when I suddenly saw a flying v shaped jus opposite across my block. Thought it my just be toy or cardboard look alike flying v so I just check it out.(No harm looking).

But as I go nearer my curiosty turn otherwise. It is really a flying v but no indication of brand or model. Maybe a cheap replica but in my hand is a FLYING V! Wow.......

After full checking.... realise that the guitar body was made from plywood, whole fret on the fingerboard is gone(maybe the previous owner remove the fret and sell it for scrap!),1 missing hum n missing electronic parts such as the vol pot, selector switch and the input jack. Quickly bring the new found axe to my place and wanted to revive it to the original condition as a project guitar.

Hook up with my bro.....to help me do the frets. Bought the jim dunlop jumbo fret n the electronic parts from davis, hum (ibanez stock pus) from sam of wee lee for $20. Got some tools and jigs for the refret dressing as reference from dan erlewine(guitar player repair guide) and rewire and solder the electronic parts including the 1 vol and 1 switch myself
(ala PGM spec).

Wallah..... the refurbish flying is back to life.....

Did bring for jamming once but never used for gigs.

Do look ard ur place and if ur lucky..... maybe sum1 might let off a LP or strat near ur place... good luck.

The Flying V must have crash landed there. LOL
I think that could be an Orient with a plywood body.
One of those crappy brands of guitars Swee Lee used to carry back in the day.
My very first Flying V was a white Orient one with black pickguard.
It looked like the Jackson RR1 model but with a Fender type tremolo.
It looked awesome but played like crap.

V guitar
