Your choice of distortion pedal....(FEEL FREE TO POST!!!)

gt2 boosted with protone mach2 booster.

the gt2 i got is the new version, which imo, it sounds a lil sterile.
and my protone mach2 booster is the really old one which has interactive gain and level controls.

gt2 when boosted with the protone, it gives the sound of a dirty amp being boosted, hardcore distortion, with good articulation as well.
so yeah

the protone on its own is like a TS clone. very dynamic, but it does tend to add some bass frequencies. but it does fatten up tone rather well.

Hmmm.. i don't think the Protone Mach 2 is a TS clone. The Protone is a single transistor booster.

lol................proton and protone are diff man.........dun mix up. A mike mod DS-1 live turbo gets my vote. Very tweakable, less treble so it sounds like the JnH but it still retains the quality of the dist. frm the original DS-1. For a non-modded pedal, MIJ DS-2.

yeah okay thanks reavengance, = ) i think ill be heading down to pennisula tml, have a few things to buy and i want to sign up for guitar lessons at guitar 77 too! last time i went there, i asked if they had lessons available on saturdays, they said have. then i aske dwhat time and for more info, they told me they'll ring me on my cell for more info like in the middle of the week but they nvr did =/. i tried calling their number but no one picked up. yeah so im going back tml anyway.

hehe im so excited gonna get a new paddle. pedal* ive been saving for multi effects actually, but then again X= i heard the sound's not as good or something so maybe in a long run buying individual padels will still be better? i think?

i second with what tany has to say.
if you're new to the effects world, go for the multifx route. you can explore all the various effects available in there, while some are the 'standards' you would find, (like distortion, flanger, chorus etc) there are also other effects you didnt even know existed (talkbox, ring modulator, violin thingy). then when you know what you want and what you dont, let gas take over you and buy those single pedals!!

Multi efex is a good way to start. but which brand to get? In your case, i would suggest Digitech RP or the Boss ME50, the blue 1. There are user friendly. POD XT may no be suitable for you.

for the music i play (arch enemy, children of bodom, black dahlia murder, basically death metal stuff), i demand tight distortion with lots of gain, and this pedal is perfect for it.
