Yngwie Malmsteen

sigh...

Is it just me or do i smell a loser who can't seem to stop dissing malmsteen...talk big all you want, but you gotta realise he's good at what he does..unlike you vaiyen...put your guitar where ur mouth is....\m/

From dissing malmsteen to dissing people on the forum.

Guys, whats up with each giving his 2 cents worth?!

If you don't like the man, then fine, don't like him.

If you do, then good, go ahead and like him!

Sheesh... this is degenerating into a childish flaming thread.

I think the thread starter made his point. Yngwie is repetitive. But is he good technically? you damn right he is. Try do some of his stuff. See for yourself how damn hard it is. And this is coming from a guy who stop listening to him because he is getting boring. But I still respect him for his skills. Also, he has that emotional side to his playing. Songs like Black Star simply arouse a kind of feeling that is hard to explain. It immense you deeply into the song as you close your eyes. Not many axeman do that.

Greatest Yngwie Solo of all time:

I am a Viking (Marching Out - Polydor, 1985)

Worst Yngwie Lyrics of all time:

I am a Viking (Marching Out - Polydor, 1985)

my personal favourite riffs from him are

- Rising force , I'll see the light tonight and i am a viking.

worst lyrics

- Now your ships are burning.
- i am a viking ....it sounds gay.

He has a very specific style, sorta thing if you like that style, you love him. Obviously alot of the sutff sounds similar because of the way he composes and feels his music....and man_kidal.... :?

Don't get me wrong, Yngwie is GREAT live, he's the best in G3 in my opinion, but i think buckethead is very different and in a sense better.

ya man.. bucket head is the bomb.
hes so good he has to wear a KFC bucket over his head. why doesnt he like.. buy a proper cowboy hat or sumthing?...

well , malmsteen will always be remembered... if theres a neoclassical scene , people will mention malmsteen and his songs.

MALMSTEEN !!!!!

i feel the rising force! VROoooooOOOOT.

Very bad songs such as 'Viking' can have very good solos though.
'Disciples of Hell' is another example of an appalling song with dreadful lyrics but with a fantastic lead break. In fact, that kind of sums up most of that album..
