Y soft only rock musicians.Got classical musician or not???

Passed my grade 8 piano years ago but I gave up coz' going the classical way wasn't my interest... So it comes down to your interest and passion! The grade only takes you so far. As long as you're commited to your passion and strive your hardest as a musician, classical or rock or whatever, there will always be opportunities to further your music.

Come i chap in , I'm a Tuba , Double Bass(String/contra bass) player in my school's Military/Concert band , also a Contempo / jazz / improv. drummer . Aspired conductor too =)

Classical Percussionist?

Classical percussionist. Timpani, Vibes, every darn percussion instrument in the back of the orchestra (yes yes, the cowbell too); Played at Disney the last 3 years; and still get goosebumps playing Amazing Grace by Frank Ticheli.
Latin Percussionist: Congero/Timbalero.

(wow this thread started.......4 years ago)

Wow. This is a resurrection of a really old thread!

But yes, there are many classical players here who still keep up with classical. I still play classical pieces to make sure I keep up with technical skills. Nowadays, mainly Chopin and Debussy. If I don't, I find myself deteriorating in skills very quickly.

And of course, occasionally I allowed myself to play fun pieces like Rimsky-Karsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee - to make sure my fingers still play chromatic properly. When I start fumbling, I know I'm losing touch... And I've been fumbling a little too much lately...

I'm one of the extreme classical lover. Stravinsky or Bach anyone?

Basically, i enjoyed playing mostly from the Baroque, Classical and 20th century music and been practicing for hours a day. Stravinsky, Mozart or J.S Bach anyone?

huge classical fan, started piano when I was 5, stop half way about grade 8. Into Glenn gould, beethoven, chopin etc. and every single period (baroque, classical etc).

Favourite piece is moonlight sonata interpretated by glenn gould.

Ah... Glenn Gould. The piano immortal, he always charms me with or his Bach performances. I got a copy of many of his recordings and i take his playing as a model.

I do love some classical music pieces. But i dun really look out for them to listen. But my fav is Clair De Lune by Debussy. Amazing piece of music. and i love Chopin's piano pieces. His etudes are really technically challenging. And i love Bach's as well, his crazy ass counterpoints which im hoping to have time to study them in the near future.
