I've been pondering what type of multi-effects pedal to use for awhile now, and came up with these 3.

We all know Line 6 is great for recording, Boss is great for its array of effects and TC electronics for its (possibly limited yet good sounding) nova series of pedals.

I'll be using this pedal for lots of church stuff, so the genres would be very much Christian stuff.

And please, don't throw me 'use analog', cause this is about multi efx.
Any other recommendations would be very much appreciated.

My vote is for the Nova System. I have one, and it has awesome delays and modulation effects, all of which sound lush and clear.

The X3 Live is a different animal altogether, I'd choose it if I had to play direct into the PA instead of through an amp.

line 6 m13:)

That's what I'll recommend as well. And I'm recommending on experience, not on hype or what I read online. I haven't tried the GT10 or the Nova but the layout of the M13 is a very spontaneous interface and user friendly design compared to the X3L.

If you don't care for amp modeling and just want effects and more effects, go for the Nova System or the M13. The M13 beats the Nova in terms of simplicity and ease of use, but T.C. effects just scream quality. Also, 1 point to the Nova for just being plain sexy.

get a digitech RP1000 or 500.the rp1000 has looper function and extra buttons than the rp500.u want rack gear try digitech gsp1101 with the controller
killer sounds

Wow. I'm quite shocked by the response.
Seems that the Nova system is the more loved m-efx pedal 'round here.

Would love to have more views on this.

Its REALLY SEXY XD

That's why its on the list. Oh, and did I forget to mention that it looks awesome?

Cheap and good sounding

Since you are using for church stuff, Boss ME70 is more than enough. Don't waste your money buying multi effects which you only made use 30 to 40% of it.ME 70 is really a cool analog tweaking multi effects box.You can find almost all types of sound. Buy what you need and not what you want. Recession time.

I'll go with the M13 too.

I think most people here would probably say Nova, not because they've played it, but simply because the brand printed on it is TC Electronics. But for those that did, good on you!

To qualify my choice, TC recently dropped the Nova System's prices from US$699 to US$499, which coincidentally is the same price as the M13. If the Nova quality justifies the price, why did it drop?

The ME70 is hardly cheaper and being a much newer product, the chances of seeing a used unit is also slimmer. It is also not much different from the other units as mentioned in the previous posts. Any issues and kinks may have yet to be ironed out. I am not saying it is bad but rather that the M13 or the Nova have accumulated a proven track record.

Sometimes the 'need' and 'want' lines are not well defined and overemphasized every now and then. If we all strictly follow down the need vs want argument, maybe we should all just dump the guitar and go acapella.

economics. cos there are alot of close substitutes around and being higher price the demand falls so to remain competitive they lower the price or there is a surplus in supply so they lower the price. lol i may be wrong im just bored.

Since we're on the topic of economics :)

If you can afford it, please spend. Getting an economy out of a recessive state is really a matter of raising the country's demand/expenditure, and we can do this is by spending more.

I know I'm doing my part lol.

But back to the topic, please get either the M13 or the Nova.

Boss ME-70 is 299 US while Nova is 499.
savings of 200 is a lot for me.

Please don't take one point out of my post and choose to ignore the rest of my arguments.

The TS has never stated he is on a $x budget so I don't really see why the price issue bothers you. Do note that you quoted a US$ price which is pretty redundant judging how the price gap between the two models will most likely not remain the same when they are retailed here.

TGP has many reviews on the M13 or Nova and way fewer reviews on the ME-70. Most of the posts here are from users who have used either the M13 or Nova and I've yet to see anyone offer feedback on the ME-70.

If you can do a review on the ME-70 (even better, A/Bed against the M13 or Nova) and share your experience on it, I'm sure it will help to validate your point and help TS make an informed choice.

Yup I guess the fact that the TS chose these 3 options (all of which aren't cheap by any means) bears testament to his comfortable budget.

With the multiplicity of products in the market, just buy the best that you can afford.

i'd agree with tubescreamer.

I myself am caught between a Nova or M13 (matt1506 did a great job of enticing me to get an M13 but i already had a Nova )
Think about either the M13 or Nova bearing in mind each has their uses.

My take:
The M13 offers an array of great effects from their modelling pedals and you can get alot of fancy out-of-this-world sounds with the filter effect block in the M13 which you can't possibly get out of a Nova. It also allows you to stack effects (i.e. 2 DL4s or whichever) which the Nova cannot do. It also provides a pretty good looper in it as well (which i wish the Nova had). Some delay sounds can be produced from the M13 that the nova system can't such as reverse and modulated delays.

The Nova on the other hand offers pristine quality effects which are dead-on accurate. It's most important differentiating factor from the M13 is the fact that it includes a Speaker Simulator which emulates a 2x12 cabinet. Useful when plugging in directly to a PA or even making a cheap amp sound good IMO. It also packs more tweakable settings such as EQ and Gate, Setting output and input gain and levels, basically all the little things that make your sound better without 'effects'. Not to mention the extra perks of Midi control that i love for switching amp or rack channels (saves the cost of a midi controller (: )

In your case, since your using it for church, i'd recommend the Nova, not just cos i use one, but cos its better for mixing your sound to fit the band. Its also more portable IMO and does the job. You don't exactly need the barrage of sounds a M13 can pack, unless you're playing at home or in a band or something.
