Guys,
I have an idea. How abt we start a mini Raffle?

Raffle: A lottery in which a number of persons buy chances to win a prize.

Its simple actually... all SOFT members chip in a certain amount of cash, say, $20 bucks.

We have 8224 members, of which maybe 70% are not here lah. So we have AT LEAST 1k to 2k members.

If just 100 of us chip in $20....

We have $2000.

And maybe we can get Guitar77 to cough up a nice, brand new.... *insert some really cool guitar*.

SO!. There will be a 1-in-100 chance (for the 100 who donated) to WIN THAT AXE.

Think about it. 150 of us chipping in, and the prize guitar could very well be an Ibanez JEM7VWH. A BRAND NEW Ibanez Jem7VWH. And its a 1-in-150 chance to win that!

What say you to that? COMMENTS!

EDIT: Maybe with the change in title more people will come!

Yap. :) Jemsite. I'm taking part in that too.

But my hopes aren't high for a local one. Shall wait and see. Oh ya! Vote lah! ;)

aiya easier anyone donate at least minimum $1. The collection goes on about a month or so, then you guys organise a competition, who win gets all the buckaroos.

not all softies are guitarists thus if drummers were to donate you think they want the guitar if he win?

i think the guitar idea is a better one.. anyways... guitarists are aplenty..getting 100 guys shouldnt be a prob.
however i suggest fewer people but higher buy in price...

i believe the point of this is to raise funds for soft, hence we need the guitar in question to be sponsored.

but i wouldnt pay $20 for a 1in 100 chance.

Well, we can put some rules down, members who joined in at least 2 mths then can take part lah. ;)

And yes, THIS IS FOR A BLOODY GUITAR LAH.

Not funds for SOFT. This is for the guitar.

And yes, there maybe drummers and others but then, a seperate raffle for them. :)

Actually, I'm not surprised it wouldn't work out here... :D Thats just our mentality. $20 for 1 in 100 not good? I'm quite surprised at that statement...

isnt this similar to a tontine fund and technically illegal ?

thats wat i think too.whether u implement rules or not, there are legal guidelines when it comes to collecting money.

erm... for your info guys... 1 out of 100 ... to win sumthing that is equal to 100 times your investment. is a very good chance.

people buy 4D and toto all the time... dun even need to mention the probability of that happening. those who do stats should understand.

Cool shit, and the money goes to building up the site?

Why not get like a cash-voucher or something from a music store, therefore, all musicians will participate as they can purchase anything they want with the voucher.
This will increase the number of participants, as opposed to only guitarists.

Oops, my bad. Apologies.

But this raffle thing could be implemented in the raising of funds for S.O.F.T as well right.

Well, Phil, I will bet you that the moment you attempt to ask for donations for SOFT... there will be a nice number of supporters for it.

When it comes down to it, no one would give. :) Its as simple as that.

In anycase, I anticipated we wouldn't be able to do such a Raffle. You guys should check out Jemsite. There's a Raffle there for a brand new (USD2800) Jem7vwh from Ibanezrules (which means it comes fully setup and with locking studs) and people just have to put in $20 USD to participate. A 1 in 125 chance.

I was worried about the mentality of us Singaporeans... and I guess I'm right looking at the poll. Its just the way we are I guess. Oh well.

$5 to $10 is alright la...but more then that is alittle tight for poor students like me..haha...and how r u goin to collect to donation? i got no credit card...haha...and no net transfer account...
