Here's a great article... Totally relevant from the designer's point of view, and when you marry that design concept to the player's needs (back then) and the production efficiency, it really is the ultimate guitar design...

Why I think the Stratocaster is one of the best designed guitars ever…

My day job is being a graphic designer, which usually entails designing anything from a company logo, window graphics, guitar pedal (hi Tym!) to a coffee bag… basically my job is to make sure stuff looks nice. After doing this for a while you get a sense of what makes a design ‘balanced’… and being a guitar player who’s also a designer I noticed how well thought out the design of the Stratocaster is.
We’ll start from the top. The Stratocaster peghead was originally ‘borrowed’ from Paul Bigsby’s earlier guitar creations…

Great article, I didn't know everything was so precise and on purpose. I always assumed it was a design and nothing more but this proves that Leo was a great innovator.

... I'm doing design. For my point of view, Yeah strat was well design, simple, ergonomic, and orgasmic. No matter how is it... Leo Fender is genius...

i cant wait for my strat. got a beat up one from a friend, i changed the hardware and now sent it for refretting. when i assembled it and strapped it up --- it felt great hahaha.
feels like its naturally part of you or something. but it didnt had any strings on that time, i wonder how it would be when everything is done.

after awhile i thought, why didnt i buy a strat earlier?
