Why oh why do people insist on advertising things for sale that cost MORE than they are new?

Shure SM57 for $140? I bought a new one for $125.

Epi LP for $700? C'mon...

Hello? Research fellas - research... :)

Maybe we should do a price guide in this forum. Something for guitars. An example would be lets say a guide for local US Strat prices. We could have 1st hand, 2nd hand(mint, good, fair, average ,poor). Input can be gathered from all.

thats a nice idea...

but its difficult to just say an e.g. American strats , price guide : 1500

within the Made in america strat range, there are alot of variations , e.g Highway 1 - American 50th anniversary strats, price fluctuates in between too ...

Ok - I'll give you one of the picks if you don't hurt me - but not the red one.

All these happenings are not new at all. Long before the evil roots of the internet is sown, people have to depend on old conventional methods of classified advertisments.

Within print media of the papers, magazine and circulars. These stuffs are already happening. With the advent of internet, these has become alarmingly more rampant.

More so as you can dig up some dumb info on whatever product. So you can sound like a "pro", dropping terms and specs with the flick of the finger. So it's much difficult to tell the poser from the real dealer.

That's why time and time again I keep advising people. Buy things from a dealer with a credible base (eg. shop or establishment). Yes they have to mark up and earn, cause like you and me they have to pay the rent and buy food everyday.

It's like if I as a real dealer sells something, some dumbass come to me and tell me that he know my cost, because he surf the internet. And he want me to sell to him next to cost. I will tell him if he can eat shit, I can sell to him, because I don't eat shit, I eat food, and I have to pay for food, shit is free.

So the only way to curb such poser wannabe dealers is not to patronise them. Support the REAL dealers out there, it will do the customer good too. If the dealer makes money, he can bring in more products, and give a better deal (subjective issue).

The actual problem has never really change, only the magnitude of the problem.
