As far as I know, most of my friends or even school mates are sort of despise or just simply don't care about our very own local scene.
And most of the Singaporeans always compare our music with those oversea music. Sometimes when I show them some of the songs that I wrote. They tend to be like..
"Woah Ryan, you think you're Blink 182 or GreenDay huh? Singapore music got no hopes one lah" or when I show them some of the local bands like Force Vomit, Electrico. Their responses are still negative.
You know, all these comparison and the lack of recognition for our own local music actually one of the factor of why the music scene cant make it big. :/
And I know that most of the US or UK bands also start playing underground before they make it big. But the only differences are that their local community do appreciate but yet Singapore doesn't really show that much support.
I'm just wondering why do Singaporeans feel negative for Singapore music scene. The above is just what I feel so no flamings alright
