Why do people not research before buying/enquiring these days?

I've been through a couple of deals with mad smses going to and fro.
Soemtimes its just aint the effort.

I AGREE! People should read carefully on the WTS post and the sellers should provide more details about their product as well. e.g ( Some sellers dont even state their selling price! )

I've done a couple of sales on the WTS section as well and one tip i find that works the best is to just call and enquire. DONT make too many smses! (maybe they are shy) usually the potential buyers or sellers will just call you straght up to deal. Its faster and less pain staking.

i don really bother with sms-es these days...unless the fella wanna buy. waste of my phone battery.

PS some idoit just smsed me whether my psp is still available...and i've already sold it like since last year? Gawd, i wonder whether these ppl were actually born retarded or sth  btw i told him still available, the box you want? :D

Abt the sms - I do that too, Edder.

I don't understand exchanging SMS after SMS when a simple call can settle it in 2 mins.

Well, some Singaporeans kids doesn't answer calls. Might be they are saving their top-up load? :p When I really need an item, I immediately call the guy for a quick deal...

Aiya, both sellers and buyers got their own part to play, think it might be an issue on education.

First sellers, You need to post on your Title the object for sale, some brief descript would be desired (ie. WTS : MIK Ibanez RG350DX << Clear enough?). Putting the words, cheap, sale or wateva... dun actually have much effect (imho) cos people are just gonna run through the ads anyway if they're interested/looking.

Next, you'll need to state the price. (ie. Price : 500 (neg/)) This gives a clear gauge to the buyers whether or not they have the ability to hit anywhere close.

Contact info : Well, this can't be omitted now can it? (unless you just wanna be flooded by PMs, which is fine...) Adding in a contact and preference of method of contact (ie. Call me at 98765432 or SMS only [hey, I've got work, and I don't want you to call me in the middle of a board of director's meeting!!!]) reduces some unwanted troubles.

And pictures. This can't be under/overstated. Pictures are an important way of advertising your product. (Some people cream at pictures...) Any flaws or defects that can be taken, take 'em, and put it up to avoid excessive SMS/Calls flying about.

Well, there are other issues such as condition, history, and other comments that you might think is required, add 'em. You never know there might be people who don't like "gigged guitars" or what not.

Next, issue of buyers. Aiyo, with all the above added in, what else you want? Go through your own inner thoughts by yourself first, got idea already then call the seller larz... You think you free other people got no life meiz... Seller just wanna sell something, not entertain you leiz... We don't get paid (hmmm, well not on a monthly basis or commission wise) for selling you our stuff. If you really want the gear, but have some issues/difficulties, its the seller's prerogative to decide whether or not he shall entertain you, so don't go off lowballing or what not, its just irritating.

Wah, but once issue also not touched here leiz... What about the rising amount of people flying kite/fly airplane? Should we have a you must have at least insert number of posts, insert number of rep before you can buy stuff? This is getting out of hand, seeing the number of good buyers who genuinely have great prices for great gear up getting @$^#$%^... Hope my buyer doesn't fly too, gave him time allowance by reserving the guitar for him...

Yeah I really don't like people who rush buying stuffs and complain about it later because they didn't make the best choice. I usually spend at least 2 weeks on the internet googling and reading reviews before I buy anything xD, is that overdoing it?

Bro, I do exactly the same thing that you do (ok maybe not 2 weeks, but enough to get a good idea of what I'm getting into).

I had terrible experiences with a buyer who I reserved a guitar for, only to have him decide against buying because he was unhappy with my price, citing some US webshop's price as a gauge. This was after reserving the guitar for him for 1.5 months. Couldn't he have just googled the model name before even contacting me?

Since my policy is to drive to the buyer's place and deliver for every product I sell, it is important that the buyer knows what he is buying and has the money available so I don't make a wasted trip.

Caveat Emptor is obviously important in secondhand sales, but if the information is right there, please read it!

bad policy. keep your sanity, those who wanna buy should get their asses off and pick up the item themselves.

everyone wants high-end stuff at samick prices

i've dealt in a church where this guy viewed my bass and offered me 1200. its a 1979 stingray bass geez.

of course refuse lah...

i also had an extra pickguard with me as well, after i told him that i don't mind selling it for 15 bucks, he showed me a 5 dollar bill and said "this is all i have, take it or leave it"

just upped and left.
