why are they all just ignorant..

i finally had enough...enough of kids in the 'scene' who totally have no respect for thier roots in music..i quote some examples ..
-'hey bro jimi hendrix is like really one of the most elctryfying guitarists ever man'
and ill be answed...'synester can kick his ass any day of the week' cmon man!before synestr there was dimebag, eddie van halen, ritchie blackmore, jimmy page, eric clapton an the blues etc..its alright for them to be ignorant but its worst when they listen to the legneds and think they are crap...
another source of frustration is true enough as entertainers true catering to the audienceis vital but hey as a musican you must be true and honest!performing what we love is so much more fullfilling.even if the crowds dunt dig it ul get the statisfaction imagine my frustration the other time when we were creating our originals..since my influence was the 80's type of metal like twisted sister, dio, maiden i politely suggested maybe the drums could be more tighter metal/hard rock type like be to all over the place like hardcoreetc.i mean no disrespect but our band had a concept of metal..but iwas simply told nonchalantly that iron maiden and the 80's are dead crowds dunt dig it...
my reply is..so?
im here to play what i like and to play my originals with full conviction that what im playing is what i truly like and love.if the crowds love its a bonus..im just sick and tired of all these ppl who just be in bands to get to big festivals, money, girls and all the attention..i beilive they have lost what it means to be a muscian..they arent havin fun anymore..
thing is i shouldnt be even givng mention to this topic as everyone have their own opinion but to criticise without a pinch of respect is just too much for me to stomach.i do believe that there are a collection of people, some bands out there though that are still being honest to goodness rockers and have respect for various genres of music.god bless thi people.cheers

if i were you, i'd prepare for an argument in this thread. but then again, i may be wrong.
true man. musicians should play what THEY like and not play what the AUDIENCE like. damn that would be a waste of talent..

i receive 3 calls from some bands talking

about working with me

BUT THEY WANT ALL GIRLS
to watch them
so they want me to bring>>

also if i not met their demend
they will hold me responsible

I THINK IT'S THE SAME BAND

straight away without hesitate i put down the phone>>>

haha. hey dude. i feel u man.
things like these are common now.
ppl will say "who cares a sh*t about roots/history?"
and i'll go "okay. sure."

gotta learn to live w it. LOL!

and about the performing band who wants girls to watch em.
i cannot stop laughing when i think of it.

i doubt anyone would come. hahah.

I was just talking with a friend about this yesterday..

These young kids follow blindly! After all the 'Metalcore/Emo/Screamo' thing invade the Singapore scene, all those pure Metal gigs aren't there.. Where are they now? Even if there's a metal gig around, there's bound to have a Metalcore band here and there.. And I strictly don't like it that much..

Last time, pure Metal gigs are everywhere! Bands like Cynical Annihilation, Hazargaddah, Beast Petrify, Meltgsnow, Chrysalids, Ethereal, Dethmute etc.. And since then, I've stopped going to gig seeing a metalcore bands performing.. And all these are from young kids.. And some follow blindly.. You see this band playing this genre is famous, you also have to cover that band song.. What kinda crap is that? And don't just support the band because they are your friends..

Know your roots people..

ya....i was shock to hear that

im like

"erm..i think you got the wrong num or something"

im so scare that they will like keep calling me and stuff

well to say metalcore invaded the scene is about 2 parts.the 1st is bunch of crappy kids who come together and play thrash cause they think its cool.while the 2nd is a bunch of friends who have metal influences and play metal in a modern and technical way(not talking about necrophagist technical).

seriously if they are there then let it be.to see purist here and there about bands in a gig is seriously not needed.thats not the point here.play what you like.i dont mind going on a gig and play some hendrix covers.fu ck the crowd if they dont like it.cause i love hendrix and id die to play his material infront of the mass.

That is why there must be age group sorting, never mind if u cant get full band yet,u must find similar mindset.

That is why you should leave kids alone and let them grow by themselves,no use explaining the obvious.

That is why u should concentrate on iron maiden. You think those hardcore kids can do it?

That is why u should state clearly in your posts, which bands u wish to cover exactly etc..Dont give a false impression then get hurt later on.

ya..i learn so many about this>>

even for me..i never listen to IRON MAIDEN before

but now//i listening like im listening to SIMPLE PLAN!!

hahaha..
iron maiden is really solid
the bass parts are so hard!!!
im still learning >

I think yeah, it's definitely important not to sell out and fall into the trap of catering to the audience's tastes. After all we have to be true to ourselves. However to that respect, we have to balance it with the fact that audiences paid to watch the gig. It's not about betraying your musical nature to give them what they want, but why not find a way to introduce the legends to them in a relevant and contemporary way? It's good to be deeply rooted in history and have a clear understanding of the many men who paved the way for us, but we have to beware the tendency to glorify the past while the future dries up. Music after all, is art, and the essence of all art is communication. Communication requires an understanding and appreciation of the message on both parts. Yeah, audiences nowadays may know nothing of Page, Hendrix, Clapton etc. But we have to remember one thing: the legends made GOOD MUSIC. And good music is universal. Audiences might not be used to the different sounds of these legends, but all it takes on our part is sensitivity and discernment to make the music more relevant to them, and the sheer quality of the music will shine through. Music is not about recklessly cutting off the past, nor is it about ignoring the future. It's acknowledging that we have to take from our sources what we must to create music in the present.

Not forgetting all those funny hairstyle.. Colour here and there with the hair covering one side of the eye.. And some hairstyles look like Dragonball z..

You want to keep long hair, may it be proper.. It's either you keep long hair like Herman Li or bald like Kerry King..

Hmm can I just ask what is Metalcore??

metalcore is like punked-out metal.something...like that...

now now lets not talk about hairstyle.look at the people back then in the 70s.the hippiest hairstyle was the afro or some hippy-ish hair.now the trend is those XJAPAN look a like.but if you play to be true then the looks aint no issue.
