Whose your favourite guitarist in the world?

MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People who can't hear his music well, might just hear the jumble of notes from his shredding style, but I never miss out his awesome melodies and unique songwriting style

Three guys that keep coming back even after my music tastes changes throught the decade++:

- Larry Lalonde
- Vernon Reid
- Charlie Hunter

of course there are the usual suspects (guitars heroes dead and alive)...

The one who got my into guitaring would be Hideto Matsumoto of X-JAPAN.
Credit SRV, Eric Clapton who got me into blues,
John Mayer and Frusciante my all time Favs.

The 2 JPs(Joe Pass, John Petrucci, wicked)
Tom morello with his crazy fx.

my dad? he inspired me to take up guitar when i was 15.

SAME. HAHA.

i mean he doesnt shred or play anything technical. just chords and other classic rock riffs. but i was 12 when i saw him play his guitar and i thought it was the coolest thing ever.

favorite guitarists? here it is, in no order.

1. Eric Johnson - Perfectionist, enough said.
2. John Mayer - Writes amazing songs, but such an underrated blues guitarist.
3. James Root (Slipknot) - Love his stage presence and persona, even more than Mick Thompson
4. Albert Hammond Jr and Nick Valensi (The Strokes) - The coolest guitar duo I've ever seen. It's like their songs will not be half as good as it is without the other guitarist's guitar parts. Shows that you don't have to play technical stuff to make great songs.
5. Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge) - His work in Creed was good, but he owns in Alter Bridge.
6. Tom Morello - One of the most creative guitarists ever.
7. Dave Baskh (ex-Sum 41) - Im a Sum 41 fan growing up, hence the nickname. His work in Chuck and Does This Look Infected? is amazing. For a punk band, he definitely have some chops. Who knows, maybe bands like FOB and Green Day have underrated shredders themselves? We never know haha.

Anyone into Marty Friedman???!!....HAHA
He's awesome and my fav. Has a weird picking but i love his style! He brings the soul to the music he plays!...can't forget his excessive vibrato!

Wes borland. the guy who played in limpbizkit, marilyn manson, black light burns, big dumb face.also played bass on from first to last.. not tech amazing but awesome creativity evr heard.he's a bass player influenced. jus bad that singaporean dun appreciate his playing..

Jeff Beck, apart from being a godly player.. i feel his one of the few guitarists who is constantly evolving & improving..

Agreed! Nowadays guitarists tend to rate the fastest shredders as the greatest. Wes Borland isn't a shredder, but he has so much creativity in his music. He's one of my primary influences in actual fact. Really underrated guy.

I would have to say right now, it's Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, though he's not very popular among the community here.
