hey i am 20 from ngee ann poly. i realize that there are not many jamming studios in the west.. cause i only can name less than 10 in the west sadly.
i am very interested in knowing what it takes to open up my own studio .
how much capital must i have?
location? if i am gonna make it 24/7
anyone wanna join with me into this idea?

actually i used to had an idea to have a studio in ngee ann poly itself but i guess got to find out more about it. because at the alumni clubhouse there is halo bar which operates like a normal bar at night. and i guess opening a studio in the same building couldnt be bad. but it only benefits to the students in ngee ann this way i guess.

so anyone out there can give me some advice ?
thanks !
cheers!

Think again

Seriously... think twice before you go into a investment. see how many jamming studio has come up in is 15 years period. from what I know. Seng Chai was the only one in the west, BMC in the East, Lee Kwong Seng, Mann Studio and Seng Chai (the original one) in the north. till now there is like 20 - 30 jamming studio in Singapore.
Everybody thought is a easy business but remember, Jamming Studio is a Service Industry. which means you got to work on weekends or even at night to run the studio. well, everybody would think " I can do that" but the question is for how long?
So many a times we see Jamming Studio equipment deteriorate at a rapid speed because it lack of up keeping and proper maintenance. you need alot of effort and time to make it works.
and how much is your capital? 30K? 40K or just 10K? and what do you want to do? A 2 rooms jamming studio? and would you have complaining neighbours?
Like I say, It's always easy when you haven't done it. How many time do you think is easy to win 4D. is just 10000 numbers to chose and there's 23 chances. But how many times has you strike it?
My advice is redoing your calculation on your money and time. Be prepared to waste your 1st year of effort earning just enough to replace equipment that is spoilt by jammers. :)

you're opening a jam studio just to "fill the space" in the "west" ?

i thought new entrepeneurs would think "I WANT MY JAM STUDIO SO GOOD THAT PPL FROM PASIR RIS WILL COME TO MY STUDIO TO JAM!"

like what bernard says, it's more than it seems. but your youth and passion will give you the drive. do know your direction and "petrol" costs. good luck.

hey guys thanks for all the advice and yea i will redo my calculation and yea its never easy when i comes to real business. it may sounds at easy as it seems to open yur own studio but it takes alot hardwork and a proper planning . it would be a risk yes i know but not taking the risk nothing will happen rite?

anyway thanks for the support duo =)
i believe that one of the key factor that makes people willing to travel all the way to jam is because of the quality of the equipments , like no strong feedbacks. amps in working condition and yea. and best of all maybe not just another place to jam, but a place where musicians hang out to chill . there are so many ideas i have here but the end of the day is having a proper plan and the capital .

it would be pretty dope to have a jamming studio in ngee ann poly!
save my travelling time and dont need to rush after tutorials.
whoot!
