who can fix my amp?

who should i go to fix my old hand me down tube amp??

Hi,

i will recommend well audio Lab or Larry Hi-fi.
do a search on the web.

be selective of repairer, remember hi voltage can kill,
most local pedal maker wont have the adequate experience to do it.

:???:

There are only two of us ?
So who you are talking about ?

For thread starter, i will really highlight both shop which i recommend.
after all they are season Tube amp repair, from the 50s to the present amp design, they knew it all!

Answer my freakin question kid !!

I have seen the job of the 'knew it all's' ...hifi's mods on vintage tube amps ...very nice indeed...donno who tho !!

Look for Indigo_blues. His dad, Mr Loy, dabbles with tube amps... for I dunno how long.

I went to him before for help on some tube amp issues, I am confident he's a top notch honest chap. The costs were reasonable too. Turnaround was very fast too... something some techs might have trouble with.

You might want to pm Indigo_blues and get a bit more details because I can't list Mr Loy's qualifications (because I never asked anyway, I know Indigo_blues so I trusted him).

EDIT: I wouldn't call Mr Loy a "chap". Hahaha... I just realised how inane that sounded.

+1 for Indigo Blues dad Mr Loy...he is patient and has time to kill....

....and the best part does not claim "know it all"... ;)

goose, I've never done amps for others other than my own, so I'm probably out of the "most local pedal maker wont have the adequate experience to do it" list.

oh wait... I am in the list! hahaha... damn right I don't have the adequate experience and I'm not about to do it for anyone as well.

Singapore Beer Fest this weekend at Fort Canning! Lets all go get drunk and talk about the best amp/pedal/guitar/pickup/cable EVAAAAH!

I am actually getting tired of this...

From now on all 'consultancy' will be chargeable ...no more free stuff here....just like the "knew it all shops" mentioned above...

....damn i am pissed!!

I need beer money ....ED.. :(

oh goose on fire. that will be roasted goose?

well i don necessity imply you.
if you have what it takes.. go ahead and quote the fella.

Happens Goose, when you got kids who just need a freebie... only that, after you've helped them, they think they suddenly know (way) more than you.

Aha there you are !!

The question is.. there are two of us pedalmakers....ED excused himself....so who is it??
So you are saying pedalmakers don't have what it takes to do amps??
How did you come to that conclusion?
Any bad experiences ??
Btw people those who mod pedal's are NOT pedalmakers...just in case you got it "all wrong"....

Do you know what i do besides assuming on things you see on the freakin internet?Have we even met before?

Finally, don't tell me what to do ?

that will be roasted goose?
You want some??

Have a nice weekend....

Opps ...forgot ...since my name is mentined here....
Bebisonfire....i would be glad to have a look at your amp but i can't at the moment...i got pedal makin commitments!! Just a pedal maker you know....must get my priorities right you know....

Btw ...an amp that old usually needs a rebuild(refurbishment)...as "poking with a stick" will flip over and die.
There was a twin reverb that i repaired two years back where the owner didn't want to refurbish due to high cost... it was a mess!!

Sorry buddy... i can't help at the moment!
