Which yamaha guitar

does anyone know where to buy the peavey vypyr 30w? cant find it anywhere, my friend says its gd and i want to try it...

the shop at bras basar right? Oo i went there and didnt see it, i think i cock-eye XD . anyway, thanks a million and how much is it, approximately?

Swee Lee might not stock the amp............the Katong warehouse has a higher probability of having stock. You'll probably have to ask around if you don't see it. And the service isn't the best, to bee VERY charitable, you might be met with many 'what kind of noob is this' stares.

I agree with the notion of it-doesn't-have-to-be-expensive-to-be-good.

Generally though, QC for cheaper guitars vary more than expensive ones. A good advice would be to check the neck and frets first as this is the most expensive part to service after buying a guitar. Next would be the bridge unit. If these two are fine, then the guitar can be set up properly and it will feel good to play.

Everything else is not as important because it's easy / cheap to service, like electronic parts, tuners, saddles, nut and pickups.

I think before you jump into buying anything the main thing is to ask urself whether you are buying this for a short run or long run. Because very often or not people just jump into conclusion that when you are a beginner you have to start with the starter packs or cheap and good guitars. But after you play longer you realise that you have many guitars at home that are just rotting there without being used. So i think you should really consider if you wna go with the starter packs coz srsly starter pack items are usually very crappy.

hmm, like that ah.. that means..

..it's like, you want chery QQ cause you beginner driver? or you want a mitsubishi evo, good stuff but can still zeng it like crazy? or maybe you want a lamborghini? buy off the shelf don't needa zeng anymore..

haven't tried rallys myself, but trust me, craftsman guitars are not crappy.. imo, quality : price ratio is better than hammer's

Upz for the craftsman. They are such a lovable guitar. Cheap and good. Highly recommend them for beginners and starters.
Had one before my enlistment but sold it away thought i dont wanna play anymore. Kinda regret. But still, i have my 10 years old pacifica.

SOLID TO THE BALLS MAN!!! Hahahaha! Sometimes the guitar you buy doesn't have to be an expensive one, it could be a cheap one, but you can mod it in due to course to make it THE guitar of your dreams.

I totally agree with that with two horns up! \m/ \m/. My main electric axe (both MIT yamahas) are both bought used.

My PAC 112 is loaded with Tone Rider's Pure Vintage (SSS) and my RGXA2 is modded with push-pull to split the pickups making it sound pseudo single-coil-ish. Steady la.

They are just reliable and..well..reliable.

Solid to the balls,
TF

Yamaha for sale

Hi,
came across this thread and glad to see many yammy owners!

I am one of the long-standing yammy lovers, but due to plans of moving out, i'm considering downsizing.

I have two Made In Taiwan axes in very well-taken-care of condition to let go:
- 812W (Old Violin Sunburst finish)
- 821R (Magenta burst, equipped with the legendary Rockin Magic tremolo bridge)

If interested, please contact me at 81333742. Thanks

hmm i guess so but after always having the mentality of like buying cheap but good guitars results in me having difficulty to sell the guitar now.. So i think its better to start of with a decent guitars from epiphone? or maybe even squier strats they sound pretty good too. I pretty much dont support guitars from starter packs definitely. At least if u start with a pretty decent guitar for about 500 bucks or more, even when u wna upgrade to something better in future there would still be some credit in using the guitar rather than just letting it rot in ur room in future.

TS must be feeling confused now. Got one group of people ask him buy "branded" guitar, one group ask him buy good but not as well-known guitar. It all boils down to your own hands and ears. Help you list out the pros and cons as stated by others, than u decide for yourself bah.

Pros of getting a well-known brand of guitar.
-Better resale value
-Easier to get replacement parts should you need some.
-"Credit" as dillon333 has stated. (this may not matter to some)

Cons of getting a well-known brand of guitar.
-MAY not be bang-for buck. (E.g. for 300++ you can get an epiphone les paul special II and a Rally Gl-300. And i'm pretty sure most here would agree with me that the latter is more "bang-for-buck" guitar)
-Guitars it make may not be as "good" (the inverted commas are used as the word good here is subjective) as the guitars made during the "golden era" of that brand.

Ultimately it's still your choice. Good luck.

note: in no way am i insulting yamaha or anything so those on the yamaha camp dont get worked up or anything eh? And correct me if im wrong about anything.

listen to the wiser advice! =D

get a craftsman or a rally! good guitars will inspire you to play more, one day, when you're more experienced and you know you want to progress further, and so happens skill is no longer a bottle neck, you can keep your start-up set and will somehow have enough $$ to buy better gear. if your interest in guitar playing dies, then you can still sell the less-well know brand stuff for half the price.

if you buy squire / epiphone for $800 and sell it off later for $600, isn't it the same as you buy a rally / craftsman for $300 and later selling it off for $100?

Is it just me, or is Epiphone resale value plunging?
Around this time last year, Epi LP Standards would cost around 500+ secondhand. This year i've seen many go for 450, some even going for below 400...
Plus Epiphone Les Paul Specials always have had really low resale value imo.
TS: Try to buy secondhand. Even if branded or not, MadWerewolfBoy's post already highlighted how much cheaper it can be to buy secondhand... Even if he did point it out unintentionally. :p

whoops! haha

buy 2nd hand stuff on soft must have patience and camp like a chao camper! i learnt my lesson, i was waiting for somebody to sell a blackstar 5 watt amp head for like 3 weeks, then i cannot tahan anymore so i went to buy it 1st hand. then next day guess what!! tada! somebody selling it 2nd hand for like $200 cheaper.. i went FML man!
