A tokai MIK, burny RLG-45 in yamaha, or a epiphone LP standard/plus ,

Or guitars other than LP you guys would recommend..

PS: I've read all other threads about these brands, yet still doesnt conclude between these 3 options for a LP guitar..

Thanks

Minimum is Tokai or Edwards, the rest IMO can skip especially the Epis.

My personal route, save more and get a used Gibson Les Paul.

I would recommend saving a little more and get the Edwards, too. Or at least a Jap Tokai. You won't regret one lah..

How much are the Japanese Tokai ?

Sadly I can't spend too much on a guitar... In the beggining I have quite an option to choose.. Fender Strat under 1K, and these few LPs

With the budget of $900 i would get the MIK Tokai simply because it's more well made compared to the MIC Burny and MIC/MIK Epiphone. Try to look into details like fretwork, binding, hardware alignment and compare you'll be able to tell whether is it really well made. It would be better if you could get an experience LP guitarist to try all of them. The Tokai/Burny headstock is more appealing as well. If you're able to save a few hundred dollars more you could get a MIJ Edwards. Recently a softie got it you could check around in the forum.

I say,
save a bit more and splurge when the 50% sale comes along.
That is if what you want can be found in SL.

i had a Burny LP for a few years, the RLC-45 (i think that's the model. basically a LP custom copy)

after a/b-ing with the MIJ Epiphone i bought more recently, i realised the huge chasm of differences between the two. the MIJ Epiphone has better fretwork, much better pickups (warmer and more toneful), and ALOT heavier (for most LPs, that is usually a sign of quality. ok pls dont flame me for judging LPs by weight... it's just a general indication of wood quality and therefore sustain)

from the 3 choices you have given, i've advise you to go for the MIK Tokai. it's not the best non-Gibson LP around, but those are the options you have listed. so there.

BTW, there's an MIJ Epiphone on orangeguitar.com going for 950. i would highly recommend you try that, since it is within your budget.

Hm, seems that orangeguitar is able to get Burny brand new...

RLG-60S - $1050
RLG-70S - $1180

Any opinion?

these models feature the 'Sustainer' active pickups (require batteries). so be aware of that. if you want nearly infinite sustain - at the loss of some dynamics (possibly), then by all means give it a shot. the price is ok, i recall when luther used to bring these models in, it was slightly cheaper only.

XJAPAN, the Japanese Epi MrE posted earlier is of good value. it's actually an Orville by Gibson.

the sustainer is fun and it's of good use. But i seriously think you will grow out this this. Alternatively can try the Jap Epi custom or even the 3 pickup Greco.

The Orville is good but I think it's a little ex. only if got money...

Tokai is good, but apparantly Davies doensn't know when is the new stock coming in. Orangeguitar can bring in but according to wai kay, have to wait a couple of months....
