Which store sell guitar strings cheapest?

I dont know why, could be all in my imagination, but certain strings are better/worse on certain guitars. I tried the pink Ernie Balls on my Wolfgang and they were awful and yet on my Axis they are perfect.

D'addarios on the other hand were perfect on the Wolfgang.

Never had strings rust on me but in this climate they need changing all the time anyway.

When I was playing overseas as a pro, many years back, I would only use D'Addario because they are the musical equivalent of Heineken, McDonalds and Marlboro Lights....in an emergency you can buy them in just about any small town in any country in the world.

DR string/tone life lasts longer at $7.50 a pack @ Davis [almost double to D'addario lifespan, with proper care] stays in tune much better too.

Gotta try them sometime! How are the DR acoustic strings, anyone knows?

Pier.

i'm a DR user too, good lifespan with proper care as Paulo said (wipe clean after playing, and it helps that my hands dont sweat at all due to a surgery i did before 8)) Hence, my strings retain their brightness/clarity longer

Well I do hope Davis has Super Slinky restocked now...'coz I'm gonna pay them another visit again...

Hmm went yesterdau and didnt see anything. I could be wrong.

Anyway, MY strings last REALLY SHORT. Ive experimented with quite a few types already its frustrating!

1) D'Darrio exl 110
2)Ghs boomers gauge 10
3)Dr "tite-fit"
4)Ernie ball slinky

Cant seem to last long at all! Play for about an hour + every day.
Wipe it with fast fret after playing
wipe cloth through.
Still cant last!
with 2 weeks the d darrio's are gone.
2.5 weeks for ghs and ernie ball
now the dr has lasted for about 1.5 weeks and it has slight rust!
dont understand it may be the sweat on my hands.
damn

hey i'm a DR user too! and my strings last quite long

how often do u guys change strings?

based on performing an average of 5 nites a week, abt 2 n 1/2 hours a nite, personal palm sweat etc etc.

on D'addarios, they can't go over 8-10 days for me [irregular intonations, if i gamble them on a 2nd weekend]

DRs will take on 2 full weeks fine, and i'll change them before the 3rd weekend. that's abt double lifespan. 2nd choice would be LaBella's Hard Rocking Steels.

What does it mean when someone says the strings don't last at all? I'm actually using Dean Markley's Nickelsteel for a month now but apart from the non-bass strings not being smooth if not applied with fast fret, it still feels and sounds the same to like when I first bought it...

Wow Paulo! thats pretty good!

I cant get more than 2 x 3 hour gigs out of any electric strings!

I play an acoustic gig and on normal strings I get 2 nights too. Elixers about 4 weeks but by that time they are sounding pretty lifeless so better for me to buy D'Addario acoustics at 7 bucks and change them every 2 weeks.

not lasting long means it begins to rust. if you treble/non bass strings starts to feelin unsmooth, then it's beginning to rust. mine rusts after about 1 1/2 weeks, then i'll change. currently using d addarios titefit 9-46, maybe i'll try DR

anyway, since you guys are on the topic strings. i'm thinking of any of you guys know where to get ernie balls, power slinky, .11 - .48. the one with the purple packaging.

i've been looking for that for months but i still can't find them. so i bought beefy slinky.

thanks in advance.

strings not only rust, they also lose some of their tone over time. notice when you first string a new set of steels, they sound bright and full? but after a month, they will be noticeably duller in tone.

i tried Dunlop FastFret before and i didnt like it, it left an oily feeling on the strings. is the oil also supposed to make strings last longer? i would imagine it might do funny things to your tone especially when you keep re-applying it after each time you play (think of the layers of coating on your strings, despite wiping it down with a cloth). :?

Their prices for strings are almost double the normal market price.

+1 I spent $3++ just for 2x of the 2b strings.

If i don't rmb wrongly, prices for other stuffs are also super ex. The 15watt or is it 30watt smarvo there cost $250+ I got my 40 watter for around $180 8)

If the 15 watts is the case then their pricing is truly something.

I think fastfret lets you slide your fingers across the strings faster? But applying the oil over and over...I think it just kills your string faster...

One of the uses of fast fret is to prolong finger board life.
I guess cant assume it prolongs string life. i dont know.
Oh btw whats the normal life span of your strings. beside the people that have already mentioned. I posted some of my problems on page 2 of this forum. you may wanna help me :D

Cheers
