which pups should i get

99 USD for the Viper.

20 USD for shipping with insurance?

I install my stuff myself.

If you want, I can give you sound clips and demo the Viper to you.

Ain't no silly boost, but everyone who has tried the Vipers think they are excellent hot pups.

gee the vipers are pretty cheap. any vintage voiced PUs from them shred?

EDIT: they have lots of vintage voiced PU! :P

Yeap, there are quite a few vintage humbuckers from Stan...

just drop by his website... send him a mail telling him about the tones you want, and he'll give you a quote or something. He will wind totally custom designs for you.

My neck pup has adjustable screw poles on BOTH bobbins, so I can tweak it all I want.

Yesssss Viper is goooooooodd. The viper fits your needs exactly. It has the bite to cut thru high gain, and it sounds very nice when played clean as well. It doesn't sound compressed like the JB. The JB sounds very flat and dead compared to the viper.

I'm currently using a JB Jr in the neck with the viper, but it doesn't balance up very well. Why not HSH?

nobody hand wounds 4000 turns on a single pickup ...
Lots people go for super hot pu and get dissapointed at gigs when it stats to howl like a mad cow and there are "still haven't found what iam looking for" vintage types who complain lost of bite in their ex vintage mojo's.
The trick is to get a any decent pu that at least is reduced hum?no hum for singles ...set to taste (yes pu can be set ) and play it loud.

my recommendation for a good read only

Thanks for all the input guys.

Anyway i got the tonezone for the bridge. And a shadow pup. Don't know the model name but it looks like a replica of the hot rail. Just found out from beez mine's a basswood. Sounded great at the store. Ok at home. Felt the sound was a bit flat when clean. Used a eq pedal to up the mids and now get a nice sweet sound from clean to mid gain. During high gain switch off eq. Works preety well.

Didn't know how to install myself, so gd thing did it at g77. Beez was great. Ended up with a complete guitar overhaul. Pots changed, the tremolo springs were changed(originals had rusted preety badly). Five way switch and internal wiring were changed as well. Set up and intonation was done for me.

Interestingly also met subversion at the store. Love my "new" axe.
Btw Anyone wanna buy a variax?

the JB isn't compressed. its added midrange made it sound like the other frequencies are restrained.

that's a pity, BK's Crawler is the perfect pickup for your needs...

pertaining to the above recommendation, if you are keen on a Duncan model which has similar voicing, the Custom 5 is one to check out.
