Looking for pups for mid to high gain purpose that wont go muddy when u turn up the gain. And also won't sound too sterile clean. Should sound nice from pop to hard rock. Also would be putting it in a bridge s-s-h postion. Any single pups that are suitable to be placed with it?

Im looking at:
dimarzio : x2n, evoloution, evoloution2
seymour duncan: duncan distortion, gl screamin demon

bare knuckles are just way out of my budget.

www.has-sound.com --> Vipers or Hellion. I have Vipers, so if you need sound samples, Pm me. Phil (on SOFT) has the Hellion and he's a happy boy!

I highly recommend the Vipers, similiar to Evos but with much more dynamics, punch and more "real", less modern.

If you need to hear how the X2N will fare, out of the typical heavy metal scream, http://music.download.com/Shredcows --> go to "X2N Showcase"

im a user of duncan distortion and i would say that pickup is really nice... clear and when crank up gain give you nice thick and tight distortion... and amazingly in clean its very clear as well especially in coil split mode

To play medium to high gain, you dont need something like a X2N.

Those absolutlely kill your clean sound.

Considering you want to play pop, well I'd say get a Duncan SH-5 Custom.

That thing has enough power to bring you into hard rock and also when brought down can give you classic rock tones.

Split it and its got about 8k of resistance, around the output of a slightly overwound single coil. You could imagine how versatile that is.

Then again, as Namle has reported, the Duncan Distortion SH-6 while it has more output than a Custom (which could gives it more compression and less responsiveness) has a great clean tone quite unlike of buckers around its specifications.

What body is your guitar going into anyways?

that's a pity, BK's Crawler is the perfect pickup for your needs...

Its goin into a fernandes strat copy with floyd.
Don know the model its preety old. Got it as a gift from my bro.
He got it 2nd hand when luther was still located in imm.
Its mij with serial no: 015766

Still tryin to find out which model it is or which yr its made with little success.

woo when luthers is located in imm. nostalgic . . .. Used to "beo" at his shop when i know nothing about music, and then finally got something when they shifted to ginza, and now they are at penisular area 8)

either that or a tonezone... 2 different sounds... tonezone is fat, evo has that cutting lead sound... so its up to u...

x2n... not as versetile as the rest...

about sd pups.. .not to sure bout them though

tone zones are nice.... Seymour duncan JB would be a nice versatile unit as well. Or a 59'. super dist has a very 80s sound to it... not my cup of tea...

From all the posts here i think ill most likely get a evo2/ evo /tonezone depending on availability at g77 tomorrow. But how about singles to go with it. Right now im looking at the quarter pounder for strat or lace sensor holy grail. Seems like g77 has sold out all their dimarzio single coils at this time.

do you seriously use single coil THAT much??

well not sure but if for me the single coil just use as something like a mid-boost

i use just a normla SKY pickup Kent Armstrong design stack single coil for my middle pup

and i would say it does the job well at a dirt cheap price

Ill prob have to change. Right now my current pups output very weak somemore its an ssh not a hsh. If don't change the singles, the vol diff would prob be way too big.
