Which axe to buy ?

yup... its kind of irritating... its the same for brands like cort.. peavey...even esp...

but the thing bout washburns is that the quality of it its very good... the parts on their guitars are already top notch...

even so... other than replacing the body or neck... i dont think people will go for washburn parts as well... i mean like... for tuners or bridge.. usually people will look at brands like gotoh...
for pickups.. its more significant... i mean... think of the probability that someone comes up to u and say... i want to change to a washburn pickup...

It's the pots I had a problem with, and ultimately what made me sell my Washburn guitar. I was just not willing to start drilling holes to fit the pots.

And maybe I got a lemon - the Washburn guitar I had seemed a little lifeless.

I ended up realising I'm just better off with Fender strats since I dig the vintage sounds that a strat offered.

oic... u had such a problem with washburns... i understand... no hard feelings though... its just a personal opinion... cos the washburn i am using is working out for me pretty well... and i had many modifications made to it as well...

I thought the Cort Katana was a really neat guitar - SD Invader + Jazz combo, Floyd Rose for around 700$ (not too sure of this). I think subversion had posted a review of the guitar here sometime - only wish they had a left handed version of that one

i would second the yamaha recomendation

very very good builds for the price. if you're thinking of spending 500-800 on an axe i would definately consider a pacifica. for the price vs features, they can't be beat.

ibanez are good too, but so far in terms of build quality i'd go for the yamahas.

i've had one for 15 years and it still plays like a dream. stock pickups and all.

now for the same price as i bought mine those years ago, you get sperzel tuners and a wilkson bridge as well as semour duncan PUs. sound slike a good deal for 800. a bloody good deal if you ask me
