hey WK! really hope to get my hands on an orville by gibby sometime this yr. no kidding. i love LP's and i really want to try to start collecting them. hopefully by the time i am 40 i can have a room full of orvilles and burny's and tokais. doubt i will ever buy a real gibson, maybe just one piece for completeness sake...hehehe.

hehe... we are quite likeminded in our GAS. I got a thing for japanese guitars too... LPs especially

i have the same thing abt buying a real Gibson too... more like for 'completing' the collection. but too expensive, and deteriorating quality, thus less value for money lol

on the topic of Japanese guitars, will post pics of my Fernandes 'The Revival' Strat soon. :D

goot! maybe we can share online shipping next time cos there was one site which offered $140 shipping for 2 guits compared to $90 for one guit. think my next item will be an orville by gibby if not then a nice lil' tobacco burst tokai LS85F flame top...yummy...
just got hooked onto the jap guits craze so guess i got some catching up tp do...heh.

hmm, this is weird, cos i was at GW the other day and i saw one Tokai there only, the one with the faded finish hanging outside the shop for display. fibredrive, i didnt see your guitar there!

mrE, saw your Revival at the other post. sweet! have you compared it side by side with a american fender? what's your take?

yea guys, japanese guitars are execellent guitars. but don't chuck the originals aside, some of them (not all) are worthy of the price and give it's name due respect.

fibredrive regarding tokai registry, it's a good source to find out about Japanese guitars. BUT always validate things. there are information there (and elsewhere) that may not be accurate. when i say this, i humble include information in my website too. this is because the existence of these company had very loosely documentated history. so some things are hard to be ascertained.

understand. guess there are lots of conflicting info out there. even the tokai president said some stuff which confused several of the forum folks and their guitars apparently. hehe. ah vell, hope the new batch of tokais made last year will have more accurate info or somethin'...:)

hey loneeurope, thanks :D
i'm quite happy with the Fernandes, plus i got it at such a ridiculous price (considering its a Revival), was almost afraid it was a fake or something... but the neck plate and serial number at the back of the headstock reassured me somewhat.

well i havent had the chance to try an american standard... so cant comment on that :? i have owned a Mex classic 70s strat for a short time... and if i recall, that sounded a bit thin compared to my Fernandes, which has a warmer, but relatively low output tone.

fibredrive: it'd be cool to share shipping costs with you. but partners in GAS makes it doubly dangerous man! lol

hey you guys who are into jap guitars ever come across this site:

http://www.thirdhandcollectibles.com/guitars.html

they have a mint condition Orville standard LP in Tobacco Sunburst! AUD 1325

and i've also really got my eye on that CIJ 72 RI Tele in see-through white!! AUD 1199

Will someone (hint hint, fibredrive) please please buy those two guitars so that the GAS doesn't torment me anymore?
