heh. finally bought my tokai. settled for the one at GW. beautiful VF colour. post pics laterz. love the feel and sound. ahhh...LP is muh thang i guess...keke.
 
hey all, bought at guitar workshop down at bras basah. last piece they had for this. it's a Tokai LS70, sycamore veneer on top of a 2 pc maple cap and mahogany body. MIJ, 2005 model. Vintage MKII pups. plays/sounds like a dream. love the colour. wasn't keen on the sycamore top at first but was informed by the learned folks at tokairegistry.com that the LS70 is a sycamore veneer on top of a 2 pc maple, plus it was a highly recommended model so i thot i'd grab it. plus i dun really like quilted tops...heh.

yeah i know wat u mean. there's a korean model NALS48 with a root beer burst...that colour was awesome to me. but...sooper expensive to ship over from canada....
they don't seem to have tobacco burst lei. can't find. anyways, think gonna start a little collection of tokais...keke. good stuff..
 
the root beer finish colour. thot this was pretty sweet too. but it's MIK and costs as much as the MIJ ones...didn't know if it was worth it...shucks...mebbe next time..

argh... you just reminded me how much i love the tobacco sunburst finish on a LP

Orange guitar has 'found' an Orville by Gibson standard LP in Tobacco Sunburst. $1800. Really fighting the GAS for that one... :evil:

feel like asking him for photos, but then i scared i cant bring myself to say no.

hey MrE - no it doesnt lah. was wayy out of my budget. wai kay sent me the photos of his guitars incl. that one, and another beautiful quilted top Orville LP. was really torn between the tokai and his orvilles but guess i made a financial decision in the end. u shld ask him for the photos of that guit you like, they are stunning! actually, i have them, will try to post it...but dunno whether he would want that...keke.

hey WK! really hope to get my hands on an orville by gibby sometime this yr. no kidding. i love LP's and i really want to try to start collecting them. hopefully by the time i am 40 i can have a room full of orvilles and burny's and tokais. doubt i will ever buy a real gibson, maybe just one piece for completeness sake...hehehe.

the tokairegistry has plentiful info. some folks there have seen the guitar and they said it's actually a 2 piece maple top, not sycamore. i checked the tokairegistry and for the 70s series it is stated as a sycamore top, specific copy is that of a 1956 Gibson LP. dunno what top i have now really...:( but sounds great to me so guess doesn't really matter...heh.
