Hi guys, I need some advice on where would be the better place to change my guitar bridge. I have a Ibanez RG 550, with a stock TRS bridge. I'm thinkig of changing to something like edge-pro.. Would appreciate if you folks can help me out here...i need to know where, how long it takes as well as cost, thanks!

just curious- why is there a TRS model in your RG550? this guitar was equipped with Edge/ Edge Pro by default...

Are you refering to the same Ibanez RG550? Aren't those teh godly stuff with lots of mojo in 'em that were recently reissued due to high demand?

If its a TRS floyd - retrofit would be the Gotoh Floyd. Might have to do minor routing due to manufacturing tolerances on the guitar route but I stress - MINOR routing and its a MIGHT.

To fit an Edge Pro - too much work lah.

And besides, why Pro when you got the Original Edges around.

it could be a rg550ex. those came with trs's.

yea dude, as shredcow says, a retrofit would be the Gotoh Floyd Rose. The routing part is subjective to the guitar, some seem to fit the gotoh perfectly, some require minor routing to make space for it to pull up.

to fit an edge in there, LOTS of routing gota be done dude.

hey sub,
1994 rg550ex. i used to have one quite some time back, swapped the trs out for a gotoh.

that must be a rare acquisition. i recall my cousin buying an RG550 back in 1991 (the exact red finish as 2007's Anniversary RG) during our trip to swee lee (i bought the RG560 then...), the bridge in that guitar was already the Edge model 8-)

with a TRS bridge in there, it'd probably be a non-RG5XX series. perhaps a pic would help?

Hi guys, as requested. Actually I also did not know exactly what model it was as I bought it from another guy...anyway, hope the images help. The current bridge is ok, doesn't go off tune, but when I screw in the tremelo bar, it is VERY shaky as compared to my prestige's edge pro...as such I wanted to change as this is a very playable guitar. Im thinking of changing the pickguard too...

Sub, do a check... maybe this can help.

The trem in the picture is a TRS-505.

Single locking trem - look how the ball end of the strings are not locked in place on the trem.

The model of the guitar must be engraved somewhere on the guitar right? All i know is for my Yamaha, they used this cheapo small sticker behind the headsock which says the guitar's model. No sure what ibanezes do.
