Hi all!
Just a question I wish to know, where do people usually meet their potential bandmates? I personally dun think through the forum is a good way..any advice?

and besides, after reading most of the threads in this forum, it seems that most people here are experts and are only looking for other experts who have experience in doing gigs. what about those people (like me) who just wish to know more friends so we can come together and enjoy music, and teach each other how to play better?

Actually thru friends is better and easier, less awkward i think. But it is still up to the individuals. Meeting bandmates here resemble sort of making new friends from chatlines.Except the main topic is music and gigs.

:D

Not really.

There are alot of bands in the stage of infancy as well, just like mine.

And all we look for is dedication, and also to have abit of fun.

We can always grow together.

It would be real funny if i were to form a band with my close friends.....cos all of them are rap fans and im the token rock dude and them together and you get.......Rap Rock!

for me , i met my bandmates in my pri sch , and i dont really treat them like just bandmates . we're like more than brothers ,

edit : *than friends i mean  sorry ah

how can you be more than brothers? what is beyond being brothers? sounds soooo wrong.

during sec school. from same class or cca.. i think most of the bands were formed during sec school.

Beyond brothers...hmm...

Actually it is better to get bandmates who are schoolmates, but then if you know how to click with people,no problems finding bandmates, dude

Hmm.

There was a newbie guild going on about a couple of months back last year which organised small gatherings for (duh) newbie guitarists to sit down and share material and learn songs together (unless I'm much mistaken in their agenda).

Point is.. I'm sure if you make a humble, decent post out here inviting both beginners, intermediates and even semi-professional players to a small gathering for the sake of learning from each other i would believe that alot of people would perceive it as a gesture of sincerity.

No reason why some people should decline from learning from one another except for selfishness lah.

I would have joined that newbie guild if not for the fact that I'm still finishing up my Poly course. But I'm only semi-intermediate lah.

hmm, i have no friends who are interested in playing chinese pop music. I think thats because most of the people i know are very studious type one...

okay, so I humbly seek any outgoing person out there who is age between 19 to 25, who knows how to play guitar, and likes chinesepop. Plz PM mE!
Or even if you're not so good, PM me too!
Cox i really would like meet more cpop lovers out there! and to improve my guitar skills... thanks alot. :)
btw, i stay around kovan area.

most people i know don't really listen to chinese pop. But i do have a few who do. But they just listen cause the singer's voice is nice and because the singer is hot. They don't really care about the melody and all. They just wanna hear their voice. And they cannot really be bothered to learn any instrument...

It is well known, instrumentalists outstanding performers are practically nil in chinese pop and even chinese rock. What they do is shine the limelight at the singer :)
but it is also great for you to start with chinese pop. English rocks shines the limelight on every individuals in a band..

You'd be surprised at the outstanding talent (bands/instrumentalists) there are in the Chinese pop/rock music industry.

Bands like Mayday, Zayin, Cherryboom and SHIN are really hot in Taiwan. There is even a thriving and growing metal scene in Taiwan if you really look. Just because we often see all the pop singers on MTV doesn't mean there aren't any great bands/musicians in the industry.

Even locally, we have the likes of Jimmy Lee, Bong and Louis Pragasam (spell?) sessioning for A-list singers like Stefanie Sun and David Tao Ze :)

Anyway, back to the main topic. Most of my bandmates were found online through music forums. Nothing is impossible! :D

...

I use soft as a last resort to find bandmates which you really need. other than that i randomly met my band at beats merchants. haha. in 2005. or was it, they found me?
its all the same. when i'd met my bassist and drummer for the first time, we had no similar influences whatsoever. they loved punk and rock music and i loved classic rock. Every since they hang with me i've been giving them alot of classic rock influence so its cool now. now my drummers favorite drummer is ian paice, not travis barker anymore.
and my bassist love billy sheehan

Meet mine on soft and some through recommendations. I went from grunge to classic rock/Heavy metal/hardrock after jamming with those guys haha.

Found some of my band members through soft. Has been friends since then even though some of them had quited the band.
