Hi all,

As the topic says it, where can I get a Modded DS-1 with the Randolf MOD.

Wanna get a brand new one. Roughly how much will a brand new one cost?

Thanks all!

i bought mine from Ebenex, but its a used unit.

gives me the bang for bucks.. somemore got green LED light.. ultra bright..

its has the EYE mod and switch..

why dun u give the Beez modded DS-1 a try?? head down to Ebenex someday and have a try.. if not, there are other good distortion modules too..

i would also like to help promote for a friend of mine, Paul from Guitar77... his MT-2 mod rocks.. now he is working on a MD-2 mod as well..

u might wanna widen ur option by going around to have a try

May I recommend Mike's Mod too? From Standard Value in Woodlands. Just got my DS-1 modded last week and it's superb.

leecs: i believe u are referring to the EYE mod where the LED flickers as u play? its quite common actually...

i witnessed the mod by beez last week and i was pretty blown away. the three modes were fantastic.

there was the original ds-1 mode, a really fat and chunky distortion mode and a third mode which was somewhat in between the first two. utilizes the flickering led.

neuro182: the SEM is the 1 when playing hard, it lits up brighter. i have that. but the LED light on top of the level knob of my DS1 is a 5mm disco light. when depress, got disco light lor.

Hmm.

Isn't that kind of super bright LED damn distracting? My Fab chorus also has that big-ass 5mm LED, and the thing can literally light up my bedroom.

The magic of the ds1 is in its use as a booster IMO.

Not a standalone.

That wettish gained up tone you get from pushing your amp (tube amp) with a ds1 (check out Satriani) is nice.

However, on its own into a clean amp, its grainy crap - just compare it to some of the better drives out there. Its crap. Got to turn the tone down to 9 oclock-ish for it to make sense, then eq your amp to suit it.

Then there are mods that take away the ds1-ness and morph it into something totally different. E.g. Keeley mod. Analogman mod.

thanks guys! anyway,ya i tried the mod by Beez, it sounded great man. But he say so far he not doing leh that time haha. Anyway, will check with him.

Thanks guys.

Actually I quite disagree. On clean channels, the DS-1 rocks too with the grit and the crunch. But you must first find your right settings on the DS-1. Normally, the tone on the DS-1 doesn't need to be set more than 9 o'clock. More than that, you'll be making more noise rather than music. Prefered settings is between 7-9 for tone.

For the DS-1 recommendation, I would recommend you to listed to Beez's mod. It can produce the same sound as the Randolf mod, and even more! Beez is the man to look for. Check out his mod at Ebenex.

Rock on
Edwin

yeah these locally modded ds1s are pretty good stuff compared to the initial keeley mod which was superduperly priced and superduperly priced.

these locally modded ds1s. personally i think give you better tone than keeley.

I'd say go for randolf's mod. as he can custom the modification to your playing needs.

Yo pujangga.. Is the Mike DS1 that good in terms of tone? I'm thinking of trying it n mayb buying it if it's good.. :D :D
