Whats the best cable to recommend? And about how much?

Sry i mean best in terms of the sound it produce, not the sound that cheap cables produce.

I used to think it was van den hul's. Van den huls use only 100% polarised, oxygen free, cryogenically activated copper. But now I think even these are too slow for my music. I'm leaning more towards Naim these days since they introduced Kapton PTFE semi conductive sheilding. It certainly cuts down on static discharge and stops air borne vibrations being picked up by the cable.

Actual I'm making it up. I just use the molded ones from ranking sports at about $10 or home made ones.

best? In term of what?

Perhaps for better and easy recommendation, can try listing down whats the definition of best

some example

best for sound heard
best for sound to travel faster and reach the amp faster
best for the price, cheap and good
best for the budget conscious
best for those with bat ear who can hear the ultra frequencies gold cable can give

monster cable! :D

Interesting.. How so?

You might want to do some research online before recommending. Last thing anyone needs is a one-liner recommendation.

I haven't been in SG for quite awhile to suggest any of the local cable makers/importers.

But if you intend to get from overseas, Bayou, Lava and Death Valley Cables come to my mind. Lava has a good comparison chart but it is highly dependent on your rig.

i used to have planetwaves, when the first one failed, i bought a second one. but it failed too. since then, i've been using monster studio pro 1000. you can get them from sinamex, but do prepare a sizeable amount of cash first.

If best in terms of performance, durability, reliability then the top contenders are Monster Cables, Mogami, Evidence Audio.

If best in terms of value Planet Waves, George L's, Canare GS-6 with Neutrik or Amphenol heads (I think Luthermusic still do these cables to your desired length).

i agree with pathe, you list us whats best then only we could give you your best cabal that suits you, as here we can shoot you with names and prices but doesn't suit your taste in the end.

When it comes to cable you have to ask yourself: should a cable contribute to the character of your guitar's tone?

If yes, then the search should be focused on which cables give you the right tone. For example, Vox has a series of cables that specifically caters for electric guitar, bass guitar, and acoustic guitar.

(I personally would avoid such cables cos that is basically making your signal chain into a one trick pony: you can only get the best sound from a specific instrument, but that's just MY opinion)

If not, the search should be focused on which cables give you the best unadulterated sound ie flat and balanced tone.

Also you should consider cables that are well shielded so as to avoid noise created from other electrical devices.

With that, my thoughts are...

Monster cables? For the amount of cash you spend on them I can buy a good pedal! In fact, some cheap cables can produce decent enough sounds eg Samson.

Planet Waves just sounds way too brittle for me. Not enough warmth, not enough mids, and too much treble even when the treble in my eq setting is turned low.

I personally use Ibanez cables. Good value, noiseless and a balanced sound.

Of course you can also consider making your own custom cables eg RDM or Beez.
