What style do you play?

Nice Thread... here's my info...

Influences in my playing:
Guitar - John Pizzarelli, Joe Pass, Barney Kessell, Russell Malone, Birelli Lagrene, Jimmy Bruno
Non-guitar - Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Red Garland, Chet Baker, Benny Green, Tord Gustavsen, and a lil' bit of Diana Krall :)

Style: Post-bop Jazz, Modern Vocal Jazz (Silje Nergaard, Lisa Ekdahl, etc.) Bossa Nova and a bit of fusion i suppose.

Duration: playing for 7 years, seriously practising for about 3, teaching for 1.

Level: ppl shouldn't rate themselves. Less talk, more practice.

my drumming influences are mainly lars ulrich and a little bit of mike portnoy too. been playing for about 2 years. just turned 15 2 weeks ago. my level of playing i think is about maybe 6 or so. and i noe nuts about theory.

Influences: Well, I love weird and different kinds of guitar soloing in the genre of rock and metal... so Freak Kitchen is one band that is on my top 5 playlists... I love Vai's theatrics and showmanship plus he has tons of ideas that seperate him from other guitarist even though he's not the fastest or most technical... Classical music is a big influence too...

However, I seldom or never, cover songs... I always compose my music... so yeah... thats both a short comming and a good thing...

Style: I'm self taught entirely... however, i have graded music theory (Grade 6,ABRMS i think...) And I love to play as varied and uniquely in terms of notes used and technique... Shred is fine with me but its not the only option,,, and one thing that's really me is using layer after layer of guitar to create some sort of choir...

Duration: Eh... 4 years on acoustic guitars solely... 2 years on electric...

Age: 21

Heroes: Vai and Mattias Ia Eklundh.

Axe: Ibanez S Series S520EX
