what sticks do you guys use?

zild 5A's
zild jazz x2
regal tip brushes
vic firth timp mallets
hotrods
tambourine sticks
mini tambourine
clave sticks
samba whistle
vic firth 5B
this stuff is in my stick bag, which makes it pretty bloody heavy hahah
i need new brushes though they get hurt so easily

i used to play the portnoy promarks and they seem pretty durable. dosen't really 'peel off' that much. though i must agree that the stick is kinda thin.

i guess sticks must really feel comfortable in your hands. our hands all different sizes. thats why i changed to using the simon philips signature, never really liked the sound of the mike portnoy nylon tips also.

FYI, promark and vater have guarantees for their nylon tips, so if anyone has problems, defects, contact them.

Vater's Nylon tips are guaranteed not to fall off, crack or break
for the performance life span of the drumstick.

All Pro-Mark sticks and accessories are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship, including warpage. Our nylon tips are guaranteed not to crack, chip, break or fall off the stick.

Vic Firth AH8D
Vic Firth 8D
Vic Firth soft mallets
brandless hotrods

Are the AH8D sticks out of production or something? Don't see it at Swee Lee anymore. The 8D is the next closest that I could find.

In my stick bag:

1) Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature stick (my main stick)
2) Promark Elvin Jones Signature stick
4) Vic Firth Heritage brushes
5) Regal Tip rubber handle brushes
6) Regal Tip wooden handle brushes
7) Vic Firth Mallets

i use the Promark Elvin Jones Signature stick too! though they are stated for jazz i use them to play rock and fast rock cos them really really light enough to provide all the speed moving around the kit :D

anyone using them too?

I'm using Vic Firth 5As at the moment, but I'm probably going to jump over to Promark and use their 5As and 5Bs. I hate VF for the fact that the tip chips very easily esp if u play heavily on your ride's bell.

I've also got VF rods, and a pair of 7ANs, all inside my super hohseh $10 (or so) stick bag from rankin. Haha.

Not too sure about pricing. I dont know of any other place that sells promark...so i cant really compare either...then again...i dont use promarks...good luck :)

vater pro rock both nylon and wooden tip! feels like a 5A. but less heavier i guess.

VF 5A.
and a carlos maple stick frm ranking. =)

are the mike portnoy sticks durable?

Not really. I'm a heavy hitter (from what I've been told) and they probably last about 100 hrs of playing (based on my very, very rough estimate). But then again i don't really use much of other sticks so there's really nothing for me to compare against. Hur hur.

for those who uses AHead sticks.. may i know where can i buy them in sg? i know the nearest place to purchace it is KL, m'sia. a shop called JS Music carries them. they have joey jordison, lars ulrich, spug, tommy lee, 7A, 5A, 5B and they even have the lazer sticks costs $280. they have all the replacement parts too.
