What should I do with this guitar?

I have a vintage 1965 Condor 820-2 (2nd generation) lying around in my house. Currently, its condition is not very playable -rusty strings, machine heads and pickups. even the electronics are noisy. nevertheless, the neck feels very good, but needs a refret job.

Here's the thing, I was thinking of restoring this guitar to its pristine condition, but I dont' think that's possible as there are some missing parts, eg the trem arm and its spring. Another option is to just bolt on the neck to a new strat body, which i think would make it more playable, but that would be like killing a piece of history.

Any gurus can advise?

maybe you can bring the guitar to some repair shops and ask if they have the missing parts? it will look super cool if it can be played

looks rather interesting... Clean up the guitar, refret, change the electronics, change the machine heads... Well basically change most of the parts... But if you don't want to, then sell it or keep it :) o ya, hope that the neck isn't badly warped.

woow its an old guitar. i were u, i wouldnt play it. just keep and display the antique guitar. spare urself the hassle. it is obviously not in good working condition, or is it even in working condition.

You can change the bridge, pickups, machine heads and electronics, followed by a refretting job to get it back to its pristine condition..
Of course, you will be paying a hell of a lot, an amount that could be used to fund for a brand new guitar instead..
It's already a vintage guitar, relic through time already..
So it already has the mojo! It will be quite cool to see this guitar being restored!

Surprisingly the neck is still straight. The guitar is still playable, but the sound sucks, maybe due to the age of the pups. Who does repair works on vintage guitars in spore? I'd like to give it a try before it really becomes a piece of furniture in my house.

why does the sound suck? does it suck because it has almost no sound, or does it not sound the way you expected?

if there is severe volume loss, it might be due to the pickup magnets having been degaussed, or the soldered joints have become corroded. if its the latter problem, easily fixed. if its the former problem, well, you're almost screwed. :)

in its current state. i'd advise just changing the strings to keep the neck relatively straight, then putting it in a glass case on display.

Go to Malcolm Tan.

You can view the guitars he has worked on and there are quite a few vintage pieces there.

He'll be off to Reservist for a while though, but he's probably the best in the business plus honest to a T.
