^ I don't think he's looking into that much...

For a simple and decent recording, I suggest you get a multitrack software, like audacity (easy to use), or cool edit pro(now adobe audition). The software I use is Acid Pro.

Multitrack software allows you to be able to layer different tracks over each other, so that they sound like they're being played at the same time. Sound Recorder only gives you that single track... not much use.

The software also allows you to edit the tracks. You can cut them, add effects and stuff. Also if you're just recording with a noisy computer mic you can cut down on the hiss/fuzz.

A good software should be able to start you off. I know that's how I did.

ok so now e software part is done....how do i obtain this software...juz simply downloading it off e net? or u bought it somewhere? n how u set up...u play e gtr rite into e mic or u guyz use diff methods? haiz..really lot to ask man...really appreciate all the help!

thank u very much!

Yes you can download the software. Any p2p program will do.

You can choose whether you want to record your guitar by mic or to plug it into your computer. You can obtain a cleaner/less fuzz/less outside noise sound by plugging it in. You can get a custom-made cable which has the normal XLR jack at one end and the smaller one at the other, so that it can be plugged into your soundcard (at the mic input)

Once your guitar is plugged in/mic-ed, you can start recording.

looks like a very soft setup. How was the NI guitar rig? does it really kick ass the way they advertise? man.. rich siah you....

If you want a pro software that doesn't have a steep learning curve, check out the Mackie Traction software, hailed as the easiest software to learn at Namm, go download the demo and I'm sure you won't be disappointed, it's really easy to use and it teaches signal flow too.
