Hey Mods ....

A few ppl have PMed me asking me what happened to the US Elections thread ... if it was accidently or deliberately deleted ..??? Of course I told them I have absolutely no idea ...

Care to enlighten us please?

Cheerz

thanks fgl
I too want to know. There was some good discussion and conversation going on and then *poof* gone. Can it be restored please?

I am wondering too.

If the answer is "it's too sensitive an issue to be discussed", then I completely disagree. If it ever get out of hand by some idiot who writes crap then just delete the post.

The fact remains that what the citizens of US decides will affect the social, economic and political dynamics on a GLOBAL scale, which will include us. Each presidential candidate obviously have differeing agendas in their hand. I feel that we need to be aware, that we need to know, so that we can psychologically anticipate what is to come.

If such a discussion is deemed inappropriate, then the Singapore media should not even discuss the issue at all, as well.

Oh fie, how can it be sensitive?
In fact, I think if more people take an active part in genuine political discussions at a thoughtful level in order to educate themselves in current affairs, the better it is all round.

yeah i was enjoying reading the thread... but pooooff there goes koko crunch (invincible)

bandwith issues? nah i think soft is more then prepared with that... if not, this site will always have its server down/domain closed down EVERYDAY... u can't even post here nor access the website so i think shld stop the bandwith issues bullcrap.

so please dear mods, tell us a very good reason why the thread poofed? i've been a moderators on a few high traffic forums and those forums have high spam rate... so usually, once a thread is deleted, it can't be restored.. for the phpbb forums that is.

Personally I havent seen any of the follow up posts ..so iam curious too ... as to how it developed ..

^ I think cereal was joking about the bandwidth issue.

About it being a sensitive issue, sheesh this topic is mild compared to some of the topics i seen being started eg. I remember starting one about India's caste system recently. That was one hell of a discussion.

Haha, fgl, TS didn't monitor his own thread!

You were the TS of that one. Heheh. Good discussion, no? And it didn't go out of hand IMO.

Haha maybe John McCain saw the post that I wrote, which I said stupid things about him and made a complain to James.....

fgl said that mods are pro-Republicans, that's why (!)

There were too much profanities and flaming on characters in that thread. It will take too much effort for me to edit them away.

One thing I like to highlight is that we can discuss issues but please do not spoil the discussion with bad manners.

Come on James, we didnt say anything vulgar, just pointing out how stupid John Mccain is

Betsybug, you're probably right hehe

Thanks for reply, James.

Profanities - agreed, but I didn't see this up till the last time I saw the thread. Couldn't you just delete the entire post by the offending forummer?

Flaming of characters - do you mean Obama, McCain and Co. or do you mean softies? If former, wouldn't that be par for the course in a political discussion ie that's just normal, right?

I am pro human. As a human, I am sure we wouldn't like others saying nasty things about ourself.

What we say and do online will influence what we say and do offline. If we want a better environment offline, we have to start with our behaviour online.

One thing I really don't like in politics is when one party keep highlighting the other party's faults but they themselves do not have any good things to show.

OH .. so it was that ... so certain posters had themselves to blame ?????

BAN THEM muahahahahhaaa

A person in that position... it is not unusual to be "flamed". A quick check over the internet, and you will be able to read things on either McCain, Obama, and Palin that this forum cannot even imagine conjuring (Biden is smart enough to keep a low profile, heh).

I have not read the profanity or offensive laden post either. I would agree that mindless talk and flaming should be deleted. That what keeps Soft apart from the other virtual discussion boards in this endless space. I think it is a little unfair, though, to have healthy posts by individuals who are truly interested in the topic being shot down along with the offending post.

James, perhaps a post from yourself as a warning to Softies participating in this thread... to not indulge in flaming type post would have sufficed?

Yes, THOA, agree. In fact, I wouldn't call it flaming (at least for those posts I saw and responded to up till the last time I was in the thread). It is so difficult now to make a judgement since the whole thread is not available for reference.
