What gauge do you use?

Elixir .10s to 46s strings. With nanoweb coating. I've been using the same set since Beez installed the gotoh bridge on my strat since july 8) longest lasting strings I've ever played and believe it or not, the strings have not turned black yet.

Before that I was a 9s player but i prefer 10s as i like more "fight" with the strings, plus it trains up finger stamina and strength, and i find it easier to vibrato since the heavier gauge forces me to slow down my vibrato rather than the quick sting i had on 9s, does anyone remember kirk hammet and his much lauded vibrato?

The other 2 brands i like would be the DR coated and the ernie ball slinkys. The GHS nickel wounds are also nice....much brighter compared to the coated elixir strings im currently using. Of course string life more than makes up for this aspect overall, since i've been using the elixirs for around 3+ months already and they still feel and sound good.

Ernie ball Super Slinky 9-42

WHY YOU ASK??

Cos I'm a product of hardcore advertising......also cos they're cheap.....

ernie ball power slinky .11-.48

like the fat tone

don't like the shrill tone of thin .09 and the 'half way' there feel of .10

plus, there is more fight with the guitar and, tension is quite tight, so natural compression of the guitar is increased

using ibanez sa series (don't know which exact one though)

quite surprised that so few if any use .11 ....

12s!!!!

i used to use martin and co darco electric guitar strings alot before i changed to 12s as they didnt have 12s..i really liked em alot as they bend liek a dream..they are really good..you guys shld try them...

for acoustic, i use ghs contact core bronze.12s again!!.they are damn bright man.,.

I used to use 12s on my acoustic though. Forgot to mention. For acoustic yeah I experienced a tonal difference. Slightly more powerful but less clear.

I might not go back to 9s after all, I'm so familiar with 10s now, 9s might feel like crap to me. Just that if I go the 7-string route, 9-52s it is.

To me, unwound strings for gauge 9-42 are thin, it hurts!. I think I'm going back to gauge 10s as they are thicker and don't hurt my fingertips :D

you must have some BIG fingers for that to hurt....are you singapore's budding paul gilbert?

i kinda agree with mus. i used to play on guage 10s then when i tried my friends' guitar with i believe to be .8 or .9s i can't recall. its tooooo thin. well, it hurts the fingers.

same force over small area = higher pressure.
lol.

I use this for the djugga, like pathein, i get the excitements when I see threads about string... its all about the djugga.

Elixirs Baritone or DETH!!!!!

.012 .016 .022 .038w .052w .068w
