We should have a SOFT.com Jam fest

Well since there are so many musicians and so many bands involved in this website dont you think it will be a good idea to have one?

I'd love to help out in some way but I'm no gig organizer -_-.

With so many people on soft I reckon it'll probably be more than a one day event.

Would be awesome, but only if everyone prepares something to play, so it doesn't get too messy.

*cough cough*.... james... *cough cough*.... earshot .... :P

Too many bands here...no point, all will be rushing for a slot. A solution would be to have different sessions of the gig or parts so that all bands can participate...but bands, please...and i really mean please recognise the quality of the band and make sure you guys are listenable. If ur not tight enough, practice more and make urself tighter. If u suck, don't suck. This way the gig will be kickass, if not...*snores*. This example is what u see in the idol auditions, some people think theyre damn good but they actually suck and when they get criticised badly, they can't take it...losers...but i hope not many of these kind are around the forum. Know your quality before applying for a slot. To play is not just to showcase each and everyone's talent. It is mainly to entertain. Just an advice if we want a kickass show. Hope no offense has been taken by
any of you here...PEACE :smt023

Who's going to fund the event?
Advertisments?
Provide the logistics and support?
Book the location?
It's not going to be easy.

a full-fledged gig is probably going to be quite impractical - too many players mean too much setup time and probably variable quality.

an acoustic gig, or somewhere along that lines, on a small venue should suffice as a start.

Ooh I wont mind an acoustic gig ;)

Well to narrow down the number of bands playing there can always be auditions.

i think right, we should classify all those who want to join into their instruments.

so you would have:

Guitarists
Vocalists
Bassists
Drummers

then we would have like differing genres that would be played: ( for example )

Metal
Rock
Pop
Funk

in those genres, we would have a number of bands, depending on the response. however, they would be further classified into categories:

Minimalist ( One guitarist , bass, drums,vox )
Full-Fledged ( Two Guitarists, Bass, Drums, Vox)
Instrumental ( one guitarist, bass, drums,)

we would ballot all the participants, and assign them into like mix-match bands. so like band leaders would draw lots from the various instruments to ascertain the people in the band. the bands would be given like 1 month to come out with an original piece, then we would hold a gig somewhere highly accessible to perhaps raise publicity for SOFT?

just my suggestions :D

we can have demos sent online and voted to see whos gonna play- thats if there are not enough slots

If its a "music" fest it wont really matter what genre you play because that will distinguish us from one another as we all favour different styles. And that should be one of the main aims of this gig if its gonna happen is to let us see the variety of people we have involved in this website. As for who's gonna start the ball rolling lets go to the main guys of this website and see what they think about it.

hey willy, me and you lah. ai mai?

mai.

Too much work with too big an initial start-up capital. Wanna do a "festival"? It's definitely over $100k. And anyway, unless you've got sponsors, it's outta the question.

Just wanna see how many people will put their money where their mouths are, really going out to do something instead of talking and discussing plans of grandeur on internet forums.

This might sound too atas. We'd rather not work with other partners cuz we've seen how some of our friends from 2 different organisations can fall out from just co-organising gigs, etc. It's an ugly situation we'll like to avoid.

i am in no financial position whatsoever to ever attempt to organise such a gig :? it's really hard to do this SOFT jam i guess.
