to all vox vt users, just wondering, have you guys tried swapping out the tubes? any difference?

Swapped the stock EH12ax7 for a Tungsol gold pin.....barely any different. Maybe a smidge smoother and clearer for the high gain....but i'm not totally sure. Too lazy to swap back to compare.

I'm using a AD50VT. Not sure about a review though coz I'm only familiar with my own amp and my colleague's Marshall AVT50 and some Line6's I've tried.

In general, I prefer the models in the Vox compared to Line6's which can seem a little sterile and clinical.

The Vox is good value with its range of models and built in effects, such as its flanger mode which works pretty well. My favourites are its Marshall and Soldano emulations(UK Modern/US Hi gain) as well as its Boutique Clean(Dumble).

However, I find that the Marshall AVT50 has better cleans and more expressive OD sound overall though it doesn't have the breadth of effects and programmability that the Vox offers.

As for tube rolling on the valvetronix, I think the differences are marginal, the tungsol did give an impression of slightly better clarity and less fuzz both in cleans and OD, but it could also be simply a case that its a brand new tube.

In fact there is less difference that i could tell in this instance, than when you normally change preamp tubes in hifi amplifiers, probably because the circuit isn't transparent enough to show the difference.

im using an ad50vtxl. cheap but awesome, for a broke student like me, an amp like this can stop my gas for amps for now

im using a 30watter, however everytime when i change channels, theres a drop of volume..u guys expreience this?

There is a difference in gain between the different PRESETS.

As for the channels, it depends on what you programmed them to be.

I have a AD100VT 100 watter
very good versatile amp
I may give the tubes a change in the future. Maybe i'll give the tubes a swap too
:)

hi guys, i've a question.
im using a voz ad30vt, 30 watt amp. i've some problem with it. after some time playing my guitar, the amp just fails, i mean there's still power, but nothing came out of the amp. but after a while the amp works again. it happens a few times. i assume the tube needs to be changed, am i right?

so if i need to change the tube, any reccomendations? the place to get it and the price. thanks in advance.

the XL is newer.. and the ad50vtxl has two 12" speakers while the ad50vt only has one but there's two speakers for ad50vt-212. yeah.
