ok guys..so i've got a problem choosing...should i upgrade my MG15CDR to a ad15 or 30 vt?

for one, it has a tube amp sound despite being SS, right? And it has a lot of guitar effects which can save me tons of money...till i get real good before i start saving for a whole bunch of pedals?

hm just get a roland cube 30x and above if ur looking for effects for now.
no pedal through a low end marshall solid state sounds awesome, so change ur amp first.

Its an upgrade if u plan to switch to the VOX AD15vt or 30. They offer alot of sounds, amp models, effects, but u will probably find 2 or 3 settings which u would really like, and work up from there.

If u have enough, go for the 30vt. It'll last you. Plus it takes pedals pretty well.. Also the larger speaker size....mmmm....

I own the AD30VT and have pedals. I like the sound that comes from the Vox. The tube preamp does give it a certain warmth, nothing close pure tube amps thou. It's probably one of the best practise amps in terms of tone in its price range. I bought the amp to remove the need to hook up a pedalboard for practise... and it has been serving me well.. Got the effects I need all in the amp and has a good volume for a small gig. Personally, I like the lower gain models in the amp. Their natrual sounding and have a healhy dose of crunch, for classic rock like those Bon Jovi numbers. The Higher gain models tend to be a little muddy thou and the reverb is too digital sounding. But either than that, you cant ask more from this amp.

I find that the only drawback of the amp is that there are lots of knobs. Think about it, besides setting your EQ, you gotta choose what amp sound u wana simulate and what effects, and tweak them. Tweaking the effect parameters is pretty frustrating because u have to hold down a button and turn the knob for one setting and do the same for another...yadda..yaddayadda....But once u get it down, all is well... For the amp part..there is GAIN, Volume, EQs and MASTER volume. It takes a while to get use to as each of the amp has its different characters and one setting for an amp may not work for another.

O and...my amps i have changed over 4 years...MG15CDR -> Roland Cube 15 -> Vox AD30VT... :) I have not tried the amp with humbuckers yet but i think it should'nt be a problem

i have a ad30vt. and the tube in the preamp hardly makes a difference. very slight only. i dont like the on board effects and the modeling amps are pretty decent only. its a good solid state amps. definitely better than the marshall and fender solid states.

if i were u i'd not spend any money at all. save up for a decent tube amp. let the amp handle ur drives. leave the modulation to pedals. to me no dirt pedal can beat an overdriven tube amp.

well thats my opinion i would say. tube amps reach their full potential when they are cranked up real loud to breaking point. but if u want to stick with solid state cos of the same reason most ppl have abt the loud volume, roland cube ftw.

so..its a great amp? apparently citymusic is having some kind of promotion? 260 for the ad30vt..is that cheap or normal priced?

That's the AD30VT-XL, which is not the one baobaojon's talking about.

The difference is AD30VT-XL is geared towards high-gain applications, while the regular AD30VT is not so much suited for higher-gain, like what baobaojon's said earlier.

Yes it's on promotion, but for the tonewise, you have to listen to it.

^oh..crap...

Err,then how much is the AD30VT from anywhere from Singapore? The AD15VT? The only diff is loudness, right?

You called citymusic and ask? Nope, not just the volume difference, also different sized speakers, 10'' vs 12'' I think, and the AD30VT got the power attenuator thing at the back to restrict the volumes. Supposedly letting you crank the preamp tube at bedroom levels.

the difference is there is an attenuator on the ad30vt.

dont worry its not 340. it 284SGD. ad15vt is erm i think 220 if i'm not wrong. why dont u just call city music. go there and try the amps out.

meekahsoh: the ad30vt has 10" speakers, 15, 8", while the 50 uses 12" celestion

is it going to be more expensive? i don't think i would get that...considering that the new AD30VT-XL was kinda...lousier :p

highly limited live? what do you mean? you mean gigs? if so..i'll only need an amp for practise..
