First of all im would like to apologise for making so many threads..bcoz i know soft is the only one and the best site i can depend on...

Although if this is kinda noob question, why my friend's SX strat guitar($199 from Davis) can do abit pull off on the whammy bar??and i can do mine but only whammy down...or izzit bcoz of diff bridge??

My guitar:ESP LTD m-50 (check espguitars.com for more detail)

very easy one, open the back plate, use screw driver , loosen the spring , tune back up to pitch. Still not happy with the height? do the steps again until u like the height where you can whammy up.

lol , if he does not mind , get locking tuners ! or even better install some kind of locking system like FRs hav.

some are good while some are not.with your guitar you should have a high tolerance to maintain the problems.actually LTDs are really good if the model is 400 and above.e.g ex400 or ec500.

Faizal i hope you do consider about attempting to adjust or meddle with the tension of the springs. From what i gather from your post you are naive to how the mechanism works....
FYI when you loosen or tighten the springs at the back of the guitar it will affect the tunings of your axe depending on the string gauge that you use.You might come across problems that you regret and wished that you wouldnt have do it in the first place.
Ask someone who knows about the problem you are facing and if you dont mind spending a few bucks send it to a guitar shop who can do the necessary adjustment for you.

Btw where do you stay?West area?I could try and help if you are in the vicinity dude..if you really want to attempt well good luck dude.Do at least read the link i post here and hopefully will guide you correctly...CLICK ME!!;)

Here's another hope it can assist you one way or another...

Well, I think you got the idea of a "floating trem" wrong.

It doesn't imply a floyd rose or some kahler.

"Floating" means the trem has leeway to pull up and push down. So in effect - it "floats", or pivots on its fulcrum which could be 2 - 6 screws, 2 posts or lots of ball bearings.

So a "vintage 6 point fender trem" can be set up to float.

A floyd rose can be made to NOT float but say, dive only, like the one in EVH's guitar.

thankz celahircelebrindal for u full advise /giving links to tips....after all i think i just stay with my original vintage tremolo setup....BUT what do you guys advise me to??change setup to floating or stay vintage???coz i only like pulling down my whammy a.k.a dive bomb..LOL

Shredcow's right.

A vintage saddle bridge trem(the one with 6 points, not the 2 point one) can also be made to pull up or dive down. The pull up range isnt as much as that of my ibanez s470(cos it has a zr bridge) but its satisfactory for my strat.

Beez help me to set it up and i asked him to set it to a floating configuration, so i guess you could give it a try. flat down on the body gives more sustain though but at the cost of not being able to pull up.
