yo i think you are making the right choice not to buy another guitar. why down grade? even more so when you are keeping the Gibby.
You shouldn't be afraid that the guitar be damaged. guitars are one tough nut to crack! if you don't drop it, the worst thing that can happen is scratches.
but i tell you, as time goes by, there is a big likelyhood that you would like seasoned looking guitars than those without the scratch and dings.
