Unfaithful bandmates

Dont you just hate unfaithful band members
who give you their word of commitment yet NEVER deliver?
Who you would perpetually text or try to reach in order to jam
and they pretend they dont even get your message!

Soon enough they discretly play with another band, leaving no transparency
or what so ever between band mates.

its because of these inpudent inconsiderate people that
some bands are unable to progress and move on.

and the only time they would talk about it is whe you confront them.
which they would reluctantly tell you and give you crap reasons like
the band they're playing with are more "established" and more " happening"
either way, i think you people should have the common coutesy to at least tell it straight to our face.

has anyone experience this?
has anyone get extremely annoyed by these inconsiderate "lip-service" band mates?
 
until the last line, i thought this was a poem. anyways i've never been in a band yet... heh
 
haha. well first of all good topic.. reminds me of those days when my side-project band was trying to form properly cos we were lacking a drummer and guitarist. never got around to complete cos pretty much similar situation as you've stated.and a friend's band was screwed pretty much turns out he had to pay for recording all by himself. no one else in the band wanted to chip in.

sometimes certain band-guys should just admit they're in for the "scene-fame" or it's just a hobby whatever the trend is, they'll go for it and put themselves on myspace/friendster to show how cool they are. heard enough of those "all-talk-no-rock,rock-star-dreams". don't waste other people's time when they're 100% serious on committing. heheh. you all know who you are and know your own conscience. don't correct me, correct yourself.

i thought the "pretend to not receive your missed call/sms" was pretty lame haha. that brings in the boot to get that fella replaced.

that used to happen to me.

i experienced same shit.. they pretend to be not informed. or either that they give alot of lame excuses. Sometimes you really feel like kicking the out of the band, but for me that option doesnt exist because its so difficult to find a replacement.
Punctuality is a big problem sometimes they even arrive 45 mins late, sometimes they come to the studio without learning their parts.. really pisses me off big time. sometimes when i try to talk to them seriously, they try to change the topic or just talk cock with me.

It really feel like ur dragging a bunch of dead people to the jamming studio. The band is already dead, no point trying to keep the band alive artificially.
 
maybe you can "discreetly replace them" if they start showing signs of bad crap commitment. just ask around soft forum or luthermusic for band members. hard to find replacement but you waste more time/money/effort spending half of your energy keeping the band alive.
 
besides that, its always hard to replace the bandmember especially if hes your friend, and you know him for quite sometime
 
Nice timing of this topic. I'm currently undergoing this crap and my band has been dead since end of last year.

recently i arranged one jamming session and the drummer agreed at first but now he says he isnt free. and he just blocked me on msn, great. jamming's on saturday and everyone can make it except for him.

i have already given the band a three month break, but it seems like it still isnt working out. yeah, i get majorly pissed off too when they waltz into the studio an hour late exclaiming "i couldnt get a cab!". and when he sits down behind the drumset and i say "okay, let's play xxx song" he'll go "eh paiseh i didnt learn".

pretty sick of this crap already, really discouraged the entire band. sometimes, we play some of our old originals. i look at the band and they're all sitting down stoning and playing and everything's just giving off a very bad vibe.

I'm being a b*tch here.
 
It doesn't just apply to bandmates, we all dislike people who are not true to their word, regardless of the context.
 
i think that's the way teachers feel when we didn't do our homework or didn't learn our spelling :P
 
Lateness is something that pisses me off. Not praticisng ur part is one major piss off. These two things just robs the fun out of jamming.
 
Yeah true, regarding the teachers.
But then, they are paid, they are well-compensated for all the shit they take.
 
wahaha this happened alot of times in my band.. really pissed with these ppl, just wasting time n sms wahhahah :P
 
this s*** juz happen to my band over the past few weeks....

haiz... they will always be ppl like this out there... making promises that they can't keep....

actually i am not feeling piss off, but i feel dissapointed on these ppl....

coz i think they r not serious in music and degrading other musicians like the rest of us... it reflects bad on bands & musicians due to their irresponsible & immature acts
