under-18 year olds

I for one am TOTALLY pissed about the amount a person is restricted due to them being under 18...

it is boarderline ridiculous... i know there have been quite a few posts lately about this... but just to dedicate one specifically to it... i mean.. hmm i went to RONIN's launch the other night, and even though there were rumours of security turning a "blind-eye" on ID's etc., it was far from easy to finally get in...

even this powerJAM on power98 or whatever it is, entry is for bands with members over 18? now surely if you're GOOD enough, you're OLD enough...

And about the power jam thing? The winners have a contract of some sort don't they? If you're under 18 what makes you think you will be able to dedicate time to gigging instead of school?

sorta depends on the people actaully, i didn't know that there was a contract involved, but god, if there was... i would willing miss as much school as i needed to , and as much as my parents would allow... haha... there's always after school or whatever...

age restrictions don't bother me. i've been told i look 19, or even older. i haven't tried getting into clubs though. heh. but watching m18 movies in cinemas aren't a problem. but i guess the best thing to do is be patient. make the most of our under-18 years man, before we miss it!

I've been asked only once buy an old guy at 7-11 when buying alcohol.

but the amount of times i've bought alcohol without being asked is quiet good

it's really bad when you're actually past 18, but people think you're younger. my friend and i were hanging outside cineleisure one day, he was smoking, and this plain clothes police officer actually came up to him to ask for his ic. he's 20!

i know how you guys feel...and if you guys ask those who are already over that age, they would remember how envious they would feel for those who are already 18 and above....anyway, u will pass that age and other below 18 will be envious of you...so not a big deal.

hey don't worry about it. its a bitch for every generation, let's just say there are reasons to make you wait till 18. but don't worry, 18 and probably your entire existance will pass by pretty quickly.

I'm under 18 too and I was at Ronin's launch party too and AGE RESTRICTION IS REALLY A BITCH. Since when was maturity tied in with age? Doesn't mean that you think better when you're older.

there are certain places where I can understand the under-18 restrictions. BUT things like organising casual gigs and stuff....all I can say is please don't restrict it to over-18s by making the ticket price include housepour or whatever. -would the over-18's really mind if there was no alcohol for like one evening?-

hey its not that bad, i was under 18 before and it doesnt really matter at all.

you're not gonna DIE without alcohol. and if u're 16 and u think u can handle all the alcohol in the world cuz u finished a bottle of your dad's vodka when u were a kid, good luck to your liver.

movie restrictions are just for educational purposes. u dont want 13 year olds going around asking, "whats with older guys and boobs?"

as for gigs, some bands may give a negative image (this is usually decided by censorship board, older people, they might not think like how WE do) and to them, "long hair" and "tattoos" may be "bad" for under-18s, since under 18s are easily influenced and stuff like that.

and its really for your own safety - u cant sign a contract till you're 21, which is a good thing. if some dude comes up to u when u're 14 and offers u a guitar, u're probably gonna sign right there and then, and u might just be signing your life away!

But seriously its damn ironic below 18s are still considered to be under-aged by our law but when crimes are committed by them, their names will be published..

Except for offenders below 15yrs of age..
