its not that we dun care, if not we wouldnt even bring this to light. for those who don't know, then too bad and better luck next time.

In short Nick is full of crap. Bands will suffer.

KingDiamond, this is harsh, but true. Haha.

Hopefully, the younger bands will learn more from this incident about this particular organiser. I've not dealt with him in any way, but after reading this and a couple of other threads, I seem to know alot about him!

Bands out there, take note of this guy yeah. Anything find KingDiamond! :p

To bands , if u are reading this post, switch to LightsOutInc and look for Jaarvis and Ganesh in the future. They are much better in making gigs and giving u flexibility.

And I wonder if we keep talking about this here, and by doing so, pushing up this thread into prominence, will this result in more publicity for this kind of gig?

This will be my last post on this thread and I will leave the following (rhetorical?) questions:

Are we to question the motivation of bands that decide to participate in this gig or other kinds of gig?

Are we to question the motivation of gig organizers in the music business? If it's a business, then making profit is the prime motivation and to capitalists, profits ensure the sustainability of a business, in this case the music industry.

What do we gain by whining about it here even though our intentions are clear and noble? Can we translate our words and intentions into clear action?

Gigs like these are here to stay unless somebody can come up with an alternative model that benefits three parties (organizer, performer, audience) which is equally or more successful. And even if pay-to-play or sell-tickets-to-play gigs are here to stay, I won't begrudge them nor will I start another online thread to be a champion of disadvantaged bands because such gigs seem to be the only modus operandi in the absence of other desirable models. And I will live to accept that and move on.

Yes, this will indeed be my last post for this thread. I would rather discuss this issue on another platform, if necessary.

Now you're talking.. rhetorical, but i'm gonna be dumb cos this is how i felt too.. I'm out of this free publicity for ultrasound too, bye!

When will you guys ever tire over the perpetual argument of this pay to play policy?

Some organize gigs for the passion, others for the money. If bands want to sign up, let them be, we are in no position to judge/question their intentions, same principle goes for the organizers/company themselves. If you don't like their policy, don't sign up. If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything. I am sure the organizers have never done anything intentionally to jeopardize your band or harm you in any way. He is just doing what he thinks is best for his company. If you don't like his gigs, then just don't go, simple as that. What benefit do you get from typing behind a screen? He is not going to shut down his company just because a bunch of softies start a dispute.

This is getting old ..

I'm gonna applaud this 'Nic' guy for his guts.

Which other smartass in Singapore has the balls to be a local music scene Samatarian while at the same time profit from the less-privilledged bands?
