Noooooo Tubescreamers.... NOOOOOOO tubescreamers.

Cow!! youre being tooooooooooo GENERAL.
Tone is subjective.

What if people like the Mid hump? :P What if people like the tone of the tubescreamer, transparent or not? What if they get it modded to their specs if they dont like the stock tone?

Tubescreamers are Overrated and Underrated at the same time

ive owned the ts9 ... twice.. one got stolen .. one got sold off... i loved the sound.. but somehow it wasnt all i expected it to be.

i tried the randolf one.. it was pretty damn good. but sounded alittle untubescreamerish

i tried the keeley ts808 only cus the price was decent... (thanks jony)
and i bought it without ever hearing one. but i must say i was really plesantly surprised at how it is a true blue tubescreamer. but without any of its "bad points"

it didnt get muddy.. it didnt muffle my tone when it was off , it was simply brilliant.
from the reviews im getting... the keeley ts808 is really one of the better modded versions. im prefering to play low gain.. slight breakup ala john mayer nowadays.. thanks to this pedal..

go buy one!!!

People always say... a great tube amp, makes any dirt pedal sound good thru it...

Which is true....

But don't you guys find it funny that people would then stick mediocre pedals, or pedals that have so much more room for improvement, into their fabulous amps?

I'd say TS808 because that's the first original TubeScreamer and it's in it's purest state. BUT due to the rather low budget of us non-professional musicians as compared to professional ones, I won't condemn the TS7. In fact, I think I'd get one myself during the next Swee Lee sale!

How do you define "mediocre?" The way it sounds through a clean amp?

Sometimes what works simply works...

Tubescreamers kicking a Marshall is very effective because it takes out the looser bass the amp would have and adds a mid boost which gives more saturation and Overdrive.

i kinda hated the tone when i used my ts7 in front of my peavey rage 158, made it all nasal and muffly. But used after my GT2, it kinda tightens up and adds some nice mids

I'm very bias when it comes to Peavey Rage amps.... VERY VERY BIAS..

I think they suck BIG TIME.

*RAGE*
peavey rage's my first amp too :D
goot thing there's a cd input, so you can bypass that crappy preamp. Anyway i kinda like the fuzzy amp overdrive, especially when combined with the TIGHT gt2. And then the TS7 adds some mids when needed.
