true bypass problem

Guys have you ever noticed that cables irregardless of brand or price can sound warm because they atenuate the highs and some sound bright because they tame the mids :)

This is really something of a greater obsession among hifi maniacs out there who'd spend up to 1k or more for a certain pair of interconnect cables (no longer than 1 and half feet long mind you :)) from a ceratin batch of ear approved experts who buy cables by the drums. Such cables are often described by experts as either best in transparency or warmth or depth. However how these cables eventually sound on your system really depends on a whole different set of variables based on cd player, pre and power amp speakers, power supply and!!!!! The positioning of these components and!!!! don't forget to place those "mojo" black stones over, under and around the room. O ya along the way don't forget to plug in that Tawanese hifi approved digital clock in the power strip.

If the cable sounds too bright after all this... well you can always spend a coupla K's more to replace the gold plugs with either brass or god forbid Nickel/Steel! :)

So what's best? If it sounds great, it sounds great! :)

Ya lor there is no such thing as transparent. Only More Highs, More Lows, More Mids, or whatever EQing.

How do you judge the instrument's original tone if the only way to hear it is to plug a cable into it. For all you know the original tone of all guitars may be very mid and low heavy, and george Ls in fact attenuate the mids and lows, making you feel that there is a lot of highs.

Most untransparent cable may be george Ls!

Always remember, jimi and stevie both preferred to use curly worly cables :D

:) Hehehe Ya Lor even if compare a 20 ft with a 1 1/2 ft long GLs cable sure sound different. The longer sure the warmer wan! Aiyooooo and those curlies are the warmdest man! So sweet with less highs lost from the induced capacitance of the curlies. Wat Mojo! :)

what you guys are still talking about cables?????? OMG!!!

maybe the best was to check how a guitar would sound like is by soldering 2 single core wires(must be of good quality!Allesandros anyone? 8)) from the hot and ground keep them apart to eliminate capacitance and then solder directly into the amp input.

truly transparent if you can stand the unshielded hisssss....

can i have a clearer tone if i use this below to connect guitar to amp?

i think it has greater flexibility compared to solder jack to jack and shorter than the 1/2ft cable, so signal will travel as little as possible before hitting the amp!

lol. might as well connect pickups to chassis or the inside of the amp, then place the guitars' strings near and start playing. tone loss across a strip of copper?

but really the best you could do would be a true bypass strip or just use everything in the effects loop.
