Top wrapping the tailpiece

Well I don't wrap around and I don't intend to because of all the hype, the les paul was designed with the tune o matic bridge so I guess it plays better that way, if not they'd leave the original wrap around tailpiece eh.

And yes the Aluminum tail piece makes a difference. You'll never know till you play a custom shop guitar.

Aluminum is very light, so the sound coming from it has more high end and not so much low end. I play metal so I want that low end to be there

Well I mean yeah it makes a difference but now you're just getting too anal. Adjust your amp la.

if all else fail try this upgrade... heheh -

As for string tension and ease of string bending, there is again no difference. (It's a fixed bridge for goodness sakes, doesn't matter how your strings are wrapped). I hope this solves your string breakage problems.

u sound like those who study too much but no work experience. dun talk so much, jus go try it, u'll feel the significance difference in string tension

been doing it to my LP...

no snapping so far (partly bec i'm using .0095s in there...). when one opts for this stringing practice, be informed that it causes a wedge effect at the ball end of the strings hence promoting more stress. some attachment/ winding at the ball end are not as fortified across brand names...

Yup, i used to have my strings wrapped this way as well. But i did it for other reasons.
stringing this way also helps in certain aspects. (e.g intonation) some LP's have a very common problem of running out of saddle length to pitch intonation. Usually on the G string. This way of "wrapping" does help to solve this problem.

:)

when you get a better guitar these factors make less of a difference. A guitar with good tonewoods will better bring out the qualities of an excellent lightweight tailpiece and not the other way round.

I'm pretty sure many people like the sound of a light tailpiece, I just dont
